Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers on the C32

Hello guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any idea if the PSS9 Coilovers are the same parts for both the C55 and the C32 ? has anyone had any issues rubbing (*similar to the KW V1 or V2 issues with stock wheels*) ? your input would be appreciated.. any feedback you have with this setup would also be helpful

Thanks!
Jaime

Bilstein PSS9 coilovers

Did you have to install spacers after you installed the coilovers for the tires to clear the spring perches? I have a 03 CLK 55, purchased PSS9 set up over a year ago still have not installed them. Keep reading that other have to install wheel spacers to keep the tires from rubbing. Bilstein never mentioned wheel spacers would be required when the kit was purchased. Also, assuming that you lowered your car 30 mm allowed by the kit, did you have trouble with the wheel alignment?

You’ll probably still want to inspect them after installation, regardless.

Depending on your wheel offset and tire size/contour, interference is certainly a possibility:

Although the pictures are of KW’s, potentially catastrophic results can occur when fitting coilovers.

What size rims and tires and offset are those that had that issue?

yes, but someone's had the same issue with 19x8.5 ET35 BBS CH on pss9s. ET28-30 on 8.5 wheels remains the best if you want to get coilover for the car.

With a 9 inch front you will be very close. I was very close at a ET of 32 on a 8.5 inch wheel. I was able to fit a 245 front tire on the car (race rubber which was about a 255 in street tires) but that was with some seriously re-worked fenders. It was roller, pulled out, re-shaped and all. With stock fenders you will be hard pressed to make a 235 fit with the KW's or PSS9 unless the off-set is very well calcualted.

Dont forget that even if you dont adjust the car down that low the actually strut is thicker than a factory strut and that will be an issue.

The factory strut has an indentation for the wheel and tire and no after market kit has that indentation.

You are asking for trouble. Don't think about 9's in the front with coilovers. 1/2" is a lot to give when you have less than that to clear the suspension.

Exactly. I used 8.5's but the off-set held the wheel further out. We had to crack the paint and re-spray the fenders to make a 235 fit and then we kept molding the fender until a 255 fit

Leaving it all alone a 235 on a 9 and any coilover will not work.

Take a set of shocks and get them re-valved if you want to go stiffer with springs. Costs 100 a shock and you can chose the spec your self.

This will allow you much more clearance and you can get away with he 9 possibly.

what cyn and sdsilver said.

if you already have the TEIN superstreet I think it's fine. sway bar will make more difference than switching out your tein for the pss9 imo.
