price for a used set of c55 suspension?
hey guys,
just wondering what a fair price for a set of c55 shocks and springs would be with 10k miles. The person is asking $600 which seems pretty fair to me. I've done some searching and general consensus is that it's much stiffer than the c32 suspension which is something I think I need after tracking my car at buttonwillow with some tired shocks.
Thanks in advance.
Here's a pic from a trackday at buttonwillow raceway on black friday. I'd have to say this car is a monster on the track bone stock. brakes are absolutely amazing!!

I paid $200 for the struts with about 2K miles on them about 3 years ago. I did not want the springs since I am using the H&R springs. You can get H&R or other aftermarket springs for about $150, so you are paying $450 for the struts.
Your car may not be any faster on the track with them although Buttonwillow is pretty smooth. My car at WSIR slowed down through a section because of the bumps with the C55 struts.

For the springs, I'd pay no more than 2/3 of what you'd pay to get equivalent new springs (H&R Sport). Yes, springs don't age, but when you buy retail, you get warranty, customer service and the ability to rely on the vendor. If the seller balks, then get the new stuff. No hassles.

I think I paid 150/100(cant remember) for mine installed (no shocks, just springs). I prefer the C32 shocks because they are a bit more mild, yet still have great stability. Car was lowered about 3/4 of an inch and lost a lot of bounce/body roll.
I autoX as well, so I can definitely tell that it helped.

Agree w/ others - heck, you can get an Eibach Pro-system (lower/stiffer springs and shocks) for about $800, I believe... so $600 for used C55 stock springs/shocks is probably too much.
Nice pics!

personally for $600 you can spent a little more for the H&R race springs and KONI yellow setup which is a lot better. C55 stock shocks and springs i wouldn't pay over $400, but that's just me.
check out the suspension thread in the w203 forum if you are still looking for a suspension setup. personally I do touge/mountain passes, the stock US spec C32 suspension understeers way too much.

thanks for the comments guys.
yea i'm looking into options for different suspension setups. i really do need to do a brake job first though. rotors are very thin right now... hell they were thin at the previous track day but i accomplished the goal of surviving thunderhill on the same brakes.
recommendations on brake setups? i was planning on going with oem rotors and akebono ceramic pads. stock brakes are pretty amazing already

certain events you need a special license. it really depends who is hosting the event and if its a competition or not.
i only track for fun and not competitively. luckily my buddy hosts the events i go to so rules are pretty laid back and cost is only $150ish for entry
