Code3 vs LET..........HE....Ding Ding
I would like to get a HE...........What I am looking for:
1) Easy installation with full/easy instructions. From Step Start to Step Finish
2) No cutting involved to fit the HE
3) No welding or no new holes to be made. (welding meaning the arms already fastened onto the Unit) and the HE can be held by the old bolt locations etc.
4) Warranty would be nice.
5) No tricks to fastened the stock hoses to the new HE.
Prices are very similar for both and I am sure both are great products but I am not a mechanic but like accomplisheing tasks myself. However finiky with who touches my car.
Feedback and responses would be great for each question between Code3's product and LET's.
Any additional info would be appreciated too.
able to put it back? That's all there is to it, R&R (remove and replace) job.
I could've done the job under a hour, the car was left at my friends house to
be cool so it can be worked on the first thing in the morning.
I can only speak for LET's HE, buy (3) self tapping screws, coolant & you're
good to go. And if you're picky as me I went ahead and bought a few hose
clamps to change the factory ones.
2) No cutting involved to fit the HE I don't think either unit requires cutting.
3) No welding or no new holes to be made. (welding meaning the arms already fastened onto the Unit) and the HE can be held by the old bolt locations etc. There are no "bolt" locations on the stock HE. It has clips that hold it into place. I think both units will require you to drill new holes.
4) Warranty would be nice. I'm not sure about Code3's HE, but I'm sure Brandon will chime in. The LET HE has a lifetime warranty.
5) No tricks to fastened the stock hoses to the new HE. Both use hose clamps and the connections are easy to make.
I'm running the LET HE in my car and have had no issues with it. The unit arrived in a box 3 or 4 times the size of the HE. I have also read that Code3's HE is packaged very well too.
Both are great units designed by great guys.
The Code3 HE is a tad larger than the LET HE. I have not had the opportunity to compare the two side by side, but either choice you make will be the right one. Both are all aluminum and will be a fantastic upgrade over your stock unit.
It all boils down to your knowledge of the car along with the right tools. If you haven't done an oil/air filter/fluids change, I don't recommend you tackle this task on your own.
Also, you need someone to help you while taking the bumper off and on.

My DIY.
The upgraded heat exchanger is an excellent modification.
Even in our ~45-65 degree winter weather, its improvement is noticeable.
Mine came with complete instructions. Installation is straightforward and perfunctory.

If you are in the market right now for a heat exchanger, I suggest contacting Erick about purchasing the LET unit until ours is available again. If you are just considering a unit right now, then please consider us for your future purchase. I will be posting new C32 data on our units next week. If you want to see how well the unit is performing on the E55, please visit that forum for complete datalogging results in the link below.

frankly you can't go wrong with either.
If you are in Cali, support your local tuner, if you are around the Mid West or East coast.. I would say LET would be the choice.
The HE will probably last longer than your car..
or mine.
In regards to the stopcock on the LET HE, when would I need to use it? I still have to add some distilled H20 and let the air out of the cooling system.
I called Erick @ LET for help and he responded quickly and answered all my concerns.
Next I need to install my LET headers and 185mm pulley and I am done.
