Your 722.641 transmission requires the use of MB fluid A001 989 45 03 10 or A001 989 21 03 10. It is a proprietary formula refined and blended by Fuchs or Shell in Germany. Because the wholesale price for a replacement transmission is over $4000, it behooves you to use only the correct fluid. Please, no $1.99 Dexron.
Figure on 5 liters for a drain/filter replacement. ~9 liters is the total system capacity, so allow 10 liters for a complete service with flush.
Better to have too much on hand while exchanging it than not enough.

i usually swear by AMSOIL products, and i do use their European synthetic in the motor, but i would definitely not use anything but the factory recommended tranny fluid...i did a tranny flush/filter change at 100,000miles after a slight contamination from a faulty radiator and my tranny is still running strong!
