2004 C32 AMG Black on Black
Just starting out...
Hey guys,
I just bought my fist MB (2004 c32) around a month ago. Awesome car, but it doesn't have any mods. What would you guys start out with first? I was looking at removing the resonator. What are the pros and cons of doing this? Can anyone recommend a place in or around San Antonio, TX to get this done? What are some other mods that you would recommend for someone just starting out?

You can start by removing the resonator (does not give you +HP) you can do it at any muffler shop prolly for $50. You can also replace your air filters with Green or K&N filters. These are simple cheap mods. You can always upgrade your pully kit among other things as well just to a search on the forum there are plenty of threads on it

If you are looking for a power mod, I would start out with RennTech Stage 1 (Bigger pulley + ECU tune). This is usually enough for most people, and will keep you satisfied for a long time. If later you think you want more, then look into LET (Leading Edge Technologies). They will start offering very powerful stages for the C32 very shortly: Even bigger pulley, custom EvoTech ECU, headers, exhaust piping, bigger heat exchanger, IC pump, etc......
Warning: once you get the "mod" bug, it becomes very addictive, and very hard to get rid of

Pro's removing resonator is better sound plus you will shed a couple pounds.
I think C32used had a bi better 1/4 time with the K&N's. Just make sure with either aftermarket filter you do not over oil them. my thought after 30K or so is throw them out and buy a new set. They come properly oiled and it may be hard to get the right amount of oil back in when ou clean them. Doing this will less expensive than a MAF sensor. This is just my opion though

Greens or K&N are great choices in my opinion don't go by my times they where better for greens on second time at track. I highly recommend pullies and a tune after you are used to cars current output but before pullies and tune get a sprintbooster first! It will feel like you got Hp/TQ increase but you don't and its very noticeable to everyoone who has bought one. Do alot of reading of past threads thru search function on pullies and tunes...I know youtube has clips of C32 without the resenator but be warned it can be very convincing to do it after hearing the results but also be warned that if you have any warranty they can use the resenator removed as an excuse to void your warranty as well as pullies and tune and headers but not positive on tune.....good luck and PM the members like 1FASTC32,AMG-JERRY,CODE3,MB_FOREVER,JGSX,BENZAMGPOWER

I think the Green filters were a bad batch and had bought two sets myself and they are fine..........the Green filters is not built as sturdy as the K&N but they have been good to me. Either way you won't go wrong with either and LET does have the best price on K&N filters.

Congrats on the new car Poor. I had my resonator delete done at a local Midas Muffler shop. Cost me $80 and I would never consider putting it back on. I love the sound.

From what I've read on this board,the resonator delete seems to be a good one for sound. As for HP, I personally think the car is fast enough. I wouldn't bother with any aftermarket filters. Just my opinion, but I'd like to see dyno results with stock filter vs K&N vs no filter at all. Probably negligible. If any, the hp gains will be a almost full throttle anyway, are you a drag racer? Save your money and get a nice set of wheels and tires, the 18" C55 wheels look great on the C32. Then move to suspension goodies. Then once you see improvements in your track times, go with the hp and brake kits.
