Leaking Transmission

I noticed that I had a leak of some sort of fluid. I took it back to the place where I had my oil changed, thinking that they forgot to tighten a bolt or some thing. Well, they told me that my transmission is leaking and they showed me that it was leaking from an electronic connection on the side of the transmission. He told me that it's a common problem and that it's only about 3-400 to fix.

I was wondering if this is actually a common problem and if any one has had experience with this problem before. I've done a lot of research on this forum and I never came up on that problem with these cars. Luckily for me I still have warranty on the car, but this is one of numerous problems that I have to have fixed. I can't believe how many small problems I've had with the car, it's just become a real pain. On another note, I do love the car.

C32 Transmission Leak

Possibly the electric O-ring seal and valve body. I don't know if it's that common, but I remember reading a couple of members having to replace it in the past

This was my first trip to the dealership. Mine was described as a leaking pilot bushing. Labor descriptions were, 7226 - Trans, Spacer, Lock Pin and add Trans Fluid. Mine was still under warranty so don't know what the cost would have been. Good luck!

I just got mine fixed yesterday, along with the seat control modules. It cost around $300 I think. It's a known issue, the dealer will know about it.

I assume they filled the tranny back up with fluid, it shifts like butter now...

it is common... my 04 C32 just got diagnosed for the faulty connector. my dealer quoted me $250 for replacement and top off tranny fluid.

i havent gotten it done yet... but i told them when they do it, to let a lot of fluid out so they can top off with a lot of new fluid haha

Exactly what I'm going to do, but I'm waiting on European star motors to get me my car back. One of the rims they fixed developed a leak and they still haven't gotten the other replacement rim in yet. They've had it for a week already and can't even call to give me an update.

going in Monday

My c55 is going in to the dealer Monday as I've started to pick up a oil burning smell about 5 minutes after starting the car.

Only 3700 miles......

i noticed these cars tend to have the oil dipping and leaking problem, I just recently took my C55 to the dealer ship to resolve almost seeing one whole quart of transmission fluid on my driveway floor that almost led to misshifts. like some one said its a painless procedure, just make and appt and they should put you in a loaner, as for the oil smelling I noticed in my car the oil was leaking from the top cap and was dripping rite on to almost the headers, but not reaching far enuff to burn the oil for the smell, what I did was removed the cover just check around to see if you see any signs of oil leaks and if you do just try to clean it up and if you smell and see the oil burning or dripping and if that the case that what's warranty's for

i took my car to the dealer for this problem at around. 4000 miles.

they aloso metioned it was a common problem for the leak it was an overring seal that tends to go for some what reason, but i was told if it happens again they would go in more further.

I guess you could say that. The guy just went to a hardware store and bought a harden bolt. I asked him if he thought that the nut fell off and he told me that the nuts are locking nuts and would not fall off at all. Then he said that maybe it had been weakend from the impact that occurred and broke when I was driving it.

All I hear from these people is bs. I guess now that they've been paid, they can take their sweet time. I tried to give them a call and they don't answer. I went to the shop and asked the people there if they knew any thing about my car and they were like you need to call the owner. He's away and when you call it should go directly to his cell, but he's not answering. Oh and I don't get a loaner either. I think this is the last time I deal with these people. They've been highly unprofessional and they just give me the run around. I need to go over there and raise hell

there has been several changes to the connector since 1996,the o ring were change made of different compounds , the design of the connector has changed also, this has been an on going problem since it has come out, the new ones seem to have fixed the problems but only time will tell

Looks live I have a similar problem.

Haven't driven my car for a better part of 3 weeks since getting it back from the SD Autoshow. Decided to take it on a Sunday drive to grab lunch only to find a good amount of ATF on my driveway and garage floor. Towing my car to the stealer tomorrow since it was a steady stream and not drips.

26,000 miles on the clock.

i used to frequent this board daily but i havent been on for awhile. i noticed a burning smell after i get out of the car recently, then when i changed the oil this weekend my mechanic told me there was tranny fluid leaking. my first instinct was mbworld and it just so happens that this was the first post on the c32/55 forum, you guys are awesome. my tranny has been slipping on occasion over the past couple weeks so i hope it isnt too bad. still under warranty and going to the dealer tuesday. i am glad to see that this seems to be a common and easily fixable problem

Sorry to hear about the transmission leak.

I had this same problem back in 2006 with only ~12K miles on the odometer. I was told by my service advisor that it's a common problem on the C55 vehicles. When I took the car into the dealer, everything was taken care of under warranty. My car had to stay at the dealer for 2 days: 1 day for the repair and test drive, then overnight to make sure the oil leak was completely fixed.

I'm sure everything will be back to normal soon. Warranty should be covering all repair costs and also car rental fees.

my baby

is in the dealer now....so far they act like they have never heard of this problem. When I told the adviser lady about this forum she looked at me and said

"What?"

I said never mind. Just fix the burning smell.

I got a 08 C300 loaner. Not a bad ride.

But it is no AMG.....

drum roll please.....

Valve cover gasket......Not transmission fluid.

So I got the new command disk too.

Oh, and they adjusted the steering well because it was 1/2 of a degree off center.

But I noticed 13 additional miles on my odometer when I got back in it today.

Things that make you go hmmmmm. Especially when I pulled out of the service bay exit onto the road and saw to parallel black marks on the road about 50 feet long.

I got a chrysler pacifica or some thing like that, it was a mini-van. I think I got the worse end of the stick. The funny thing is that it handled much better than the convertible sebring, lol.

Took the c55 in tue eve and I was praying they wouldn't give me the pt cruiser outside. I got the avenger, not too bad of a draw. Took the car in for the trans and to fix my flickering xenons. Turns out the rear main was also leaking so they fixed that of course. The trans was the o ring problem so that was easy. They just replaced my xenon bulbs again for the 3rd time. The lights really **** me off.
