What oil to run can get very technical. I am not sure of the tolerances in this engine....maybe someone could tell me but that affects what oil you should run. All of these oils vary in viscotity even if they are labeled the same 0w-40. Another thing to think about is oil pressure versus oil circulation. Thinner oil will circulate more however a thicker oil will have higher pressure. We used to run wider tolerances on the rod bearings on our cars but run a thicker oil. I am guessing that based on the recommened 0-40, this engine has very tight tolerances.
In all honestly we have blown up many engines, Supras, 300zx's, all of the 90s high Hp cars. By far the best result were with the Royal purple. Castrol Syntec was not far behind.
