Scann your car for errors (if you don't have a scanner go to Autozone they'll do it for free) and post the error codes you're receiving. Could be a number of things..

I just had an air injection part replaced in my c32 by the dealer. It could be a manufacturer issue like mine. They replaced it for free because it was a recall.

Do a search on the error code. There's tons of info on it....
Go to the dealer and have them replace your relay to the secondary air pump (there's a recall on the relay so they'll replace it for free) If you still have warranty they'll replace the pump as well. If you don't have warranty just buy the secondary air pump and replace it yourself it's straight forward and easy to reach. The pump is located on the passenger side next to the headlight. Hope this helps, good luck!

Check the relay first, why buy a pump if it is just the relay. MB should not charge more than $30 for the relay and you can change it yourself in 30 seconds.

$900 for the pump?? No way.. I bought the pump at the dealer and it was $350 I believe. I don't know where you live but call up a couple of dealers don't let them fool you. Here's some info hope this helps oh and btw the pump is located on the passenger side next to the headlight..

SECONDARY AIR PUMP (GETTING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/ERROR CODE P0410)
PART#000-140-42-85 OR 0580000010

RELAY
PART#002-542-26-19
203-545-16-01(CONTROL UNIT)

Also you mentioned that they replaced the relay before and the pump, I would make them pay for it since they did not do the job right the 1st time.

Good luck!

It's safe to drive the car.. I drove mine for over 20K before I replaced it.
I would not buy the pump only since it's probably the relay that shorted out your pump which means if you buy just the pump it will die out again and then you'll prolly end up replacing the relay and the pump again.

It is safe to drive as long as the relay has failed in the 'off' position, or the pump has actually ceased to function. Mine failed with the relay in the closed, or 'on' position, and I think it was a miracle that the pump didn't catch fire, it was that hot. Alchang32 - I think you would have mentioned that you could hear the pump buzzing manically if it had stuck on, but worth checking before deciding it is safe to drive.

I agree. I keep the scanner in the car for those moments.

Okay sorry for the misunderstand...the pump does cost around 350 ....when they quoted me for 900 was pump + labor ....

Well i got a mechanic to check out my car and he tested my pump and we concluded it was the relay...

so i went to mercedes and got a relay for $21.50.

the part # 20360273
A 002 542 65 19 05.

i notice that the part number is a bit different then the one you put on here...

also how hard is it to swap out a relay?

Thanks!
