Outside temp reading on C55 is way off???
Ever since I bought my C55 I've noticed the outside temp reading on the digital screen between the speedo and tach seems to range between 5 and 10 degrees too high, normally leaning on the high end.
Tonight it really went bonkers and temporarily showed the outside temp to be between 85* and up to 96* when it was actually about 60* outside.
1. Do any of you know where the car gets this reading from?
2. Where is the temp probe or sensor that provides this feedback to the display?
3. Do you have any recommendations on a simple fix for it, aside from taking it to MB for service?
4. Have any of you experienced this oddity on your own MB vehicles?
Also, how can I change the time on the same display? It probably sounds silly, but I haven't found a way to do that yet, and mine reads 1 minute slow.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

I'd like to know if it can be calibrated as well. Its probably a sensor but god knows where it is... Mine is consistenly off by 3 degrees warmer so I simply do the math when checking outside temp.

We have an office in Chicago, and on a trip there in February a few years back it was 74* when I boarded the plane here in Houston, and it was 2* when I stepped off the plane in Chicago.
As much as I love Chi-town, I don't think I could ever get used to that!
However, if my car were there it would likely read 10* outside, if that helps warm you at all...

maybe yours are defective of may not be getting clean outside air??

make sure it's clipped into the housing and not dangling. Also it runs off an algorithm that "calculates" temperature. The biggest problem is that it's lazy to react- but usually accurate with enough time if not touching anything.

Is it easy to spot underneath the car? Which side is it on? Is there a cover or something I need to remove in order to see it?
I had just assumed it was literally a sensor that reads the outside ambient temp. If it has to "calculate" the temp, I hope it's better at math than I am, else it's going to continue to read 10-20* higher than the actual temp.
Thanks again to both ADWman and spr for the input!
