Going to the track tomorrow.......

So I just got my ECU back and put the pulley on. The car pulls like a train now. Ive only put about 20 miles on it though. I hear that you should wait for the ECU to learn the pulley? Well, thats all good and well but im going to the track anyway just to see what i've got now. It only costs $10 to get in and $10 to run so thats cool. Anyway I can check the block and count it as a family day. Here in Fayetteville, NC its been pretty clear and cool so im hoping for some good times. Ill post what I get. There are some crazy 1/8th mile guys out here running Oldsmobiles and Nova's. Anyhoot Im gonna check it out. 1/4 mile of course.
Any guesses to what this newb will get?

You running the 1/8th mile drag strip in Fayetteville?
If so, I say 1/8 mile in 8.36 sec with those mods.

Good luck!

Closest to my fastest time wins!!!! I will be at the track from 1200-1700 10 FEB 07. Ill post when I get back. Why am I doing this? Cause this forum has saved me thousands already.

Yep - been there twice!
If I could get up early enough and drive the 6 hours, I'd drive on out there!
You got good mods and good elevation- I say 12.86 in the 1/4 mile.
Of course, we hope you do better!

Not Too Bad

So I did go to the track(Drag) today. Had some good runs. But damn traction control kept getting me. I had stock P-zero Rosso (Bald). 45 PSI front and 28 PSI in rear. Temp was 66 with strong 20-25 mph head-wind.

60 ft. 1/4 Mile Time Trap

Run 1: 2.08 13.15 105.81
Run 2: 2.17 13.25 106.33
Run 3: 2.29 13.40 106.23 Killed an M3
Run 4: 2.00 13.02 106.41
Run 5: 2.27 12.98 No Readout
Run 6: 2.19 13.09 107.42 Red Light
Run 7: 2.36 13.46 106.56
Run 8: 2.19 13.27 105.93

Not Bad. Im now in the 12 second club right? C32 AMG-DTM wins the T-Shirt with a guess of 12.9. C32 AMG-DTM PM me shirt size and address. Thanks for the guesses. Better luck next time to you....and me.

I demand that you go back and sort out your 60' times!
Kidding - good job!

Maybe the head wind impacted you significantly, but it seems as if your trap speeds don't reflect the mods that you have - Especially given the elevation of this track.

Not too bad

I know about the 60' times. I had to baby the car the whole 60' so the ESP wouldnt come on and so I wouldnt smoke the tires. Its like walking a fine line. Keep in mind that I have fairly bad bald tires. The people at the track were like.....what, you are in a Grandpa car. Most people didn't have a clue. Hey boohoo what would you suspect a good trap speed would be with my Mods? My reaction could improve also. I posted my slip in the drag post. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support. I might go back next weekend. mramg-1, close......It was for sure fun.

With those mods I'd expect you to trap closer to 109mph. That said, it's your 60' times are killing your 1/4 mile time. If you reduce your 60' closer to 1.9 sec you'll have great times.

60’ times are instrumental to a quick run. MPH is indicative of HP.

I can’t prove it, but we know boohooramblers is piloting a ringer…j/k! Thanks for sharing, mdncn2762

Very nice results. You should be happy, and proud! 8 runs in a single visit is a good day at the track.

a 2.00 60' on any street radial tire is nothing to sneeze at (not including drag radials). However, if you do decrease your 60' times, your ET will obviously improve, but your mph will decrease as well. A good 60' will reduce your overall mph, but that's not a bad thing, since the goal at the dragstrip is to run the quickest, not the fastest.
Of course it's always nice to achieve both...

I don't plan to spend the money to put drag radials on my C55 anytime in the near future, but I would be curious to see how well they do. On Nitto drag radials I've cut 1.60 60' times on an 11.43 pass in my previous Z28, which really impressed me for a tire I drove on the street daily. However, I know they wouldn't work quite as well with the lower sidewall via an 18" tire on the C55 or a 17" on the C32.

Congrats on your results!

I pretty much did all that except for the drag radials. I posted some videos on www.streetfire.com. I am a paratrooper in the 82D Airborne Division. By the way I will be there (Track/ Drag) 17 Feb 08. Thanks for the comments.

Drag Day 17 Feb 08

60 ft. 1/4 Mile Time Trap

Run 1: 2.03 13.08 106.28
Run 2: 2.09 13.30 105.21
Run 3: 1.98 13.06 106.58
Run 4: 1.94 12.97 106.31 Beat a SVT Lightning(he ran 13.17)
Run 5: 1.99 12.96 107.09
Run 6: 2.00 12.96 107.42
Run 7: 2.03 13.02 107.02 started raining

Pretty good day. It wasnt windy this time. Temp was about 60. I ran 35psi up front and 28psi in rear on Continental Conti Sport. I ran a consistent 12.96/97 for a minute. I tried leaving the car running between runs after run 3. I think this helped my run 4, 5 and 6 times plus my 60ft time came down as well. Smoked all kinds of Evo's, Hondas. People still dont have a clue what an AMG is. Got smoked by a Camaro (he ran 11.19). What else can I do to get in the lower to Mid 12's? Drag radials maybe? I dont know, maybe when I get my new plugs and wires I will be straight.

Good runs man! You definitely brought your 60' times down. However, if you bring your 60' times down another 0.1 - 0.15, you'll get much better 1/4 times. It's doable with the right tires. I wonder how the track surface is there? Do they prep it?
Re: other mods to bring down your times - I would say the only obvious mod missing from your sig is headers. After that, you need to get more invasive. Or.... there's always
