Nobody did get hurt. It was very low speed. Went under the truck.
I will see what insurance company says. Most of the damage is cosmetic only.
Airbags did not deploy, frame is untouched. I already have estimate:
Labor: $ 1910.70
Parts: $ 7893.18
Shop supplies and other BS : $482.85

That's rough, looks a lot like what happened to mine:

http://picasaweb.google.com/wcooley1...ey=TQeTWBitB70

My damage was $11,500 total, it took almost two months to repair. Apparently AMG parts are hard to get.

Don't worry though, my rig runs (and handles) fine after the fix.

I used Passaglia's West Loop Auto Body on Morgan St. downtown. They did a really good job, although I had to take it back to have them adjust the fit of the hood & re-aim the headlights.

Good opportunity to pick up a CL-grille though!

Sorry to hear about the accident but glad no one was hurt.

These AMG cars are expensive to repair because not a lot of dealers carry inventory on AMG parts. When I was sandwiched on the freeway last year, it took over 4+ months to get parts from Germany. Make sure you double check their parts list to verify they are AMG parts #s.

The + side may be you could be getting some updated parts as replacements.

Keep us posted on your repairs

Well glad you are ok! Now get it fixed and get back on the road. It's amazing how expensive car parts are for AMG...basically you will have to use ALL OEM parts...

So sorry to hear.

Don't forget to lean on your insurance company for DIMINISHED VALUE.

You might clear enough for a couple of snails.......

10k is half of the cars value, i think you can talk your way in to a total lost.

I'd rather not do that, besides the damage is only cosmetic.
If I would write it off I would mostlikely be forced to get something more family oriented, and right know I'm looking for a new house. Buying only "family car" I would consider( E55 wagon) wouldn't be the best financial decision.

Adjustor will be in on Monday than everything should fall into place.

Regards
Jack

Everybody told me that Illinois isn't a diminished value state. I wasn't able to get anything. You may have better luck though.

I don't think I will be able to get anything for deminished value since it was my fault and it is coming from my insurance.

Illinois Digest 2d, volume 20A. Ill.App. 1 Dist. 1973. "Generally, if damage to personal property is repairable, measure of damages is reasonable cost of repairs, plus difference in value (Diminished Value), if value after repairs is less than the value before the damage."

These guys are in Elgin. Ask for Ken.

sigh.

I read the post.

In a fault-based system, insurance companies pay according to each party’s degree of fault. If you and your insurer don’t see eye-to-eye on your claim, you may have to file suit for uncompensated economic damages and pain and suffering. Or even diminished value. Nobody said it was going to be easy...

Anything else I can clear up for you?

Did the fact that I quoted him confuse you?

EDIT: Even if you can't collect the $$$ from your insurance, you can claim it on your taxes as a loss.
