C32 Battery

I have a 2002 C32 with 100K extended warranty from Mercedes. I am the original owner, and my battery has never been replaced.

Yesterday, I got my car back from a Service B, and the dealer pointed out that the battery was bad. I have a couple of questions:

1) Is my battery covered under the warranty because my dealer thinks otherwise?
2) And, how difficult is it to change the battery myself? It would be great if someone had a walkthrough of changing the battery.

Thanks.

I doubt the warranty will cover it, at least mine didnt. Its basically a maintenance item. I would like to refer you to the newbie section of the forum for your battery and any other questions.

I seriously doubt its a warranty product...You can change yourself its not that hard at all...I bought a Optima battery which shaved like 20lbs off the front end...

You need to do some cosmetic touches to the front grill and hood emblem...maybe fogs also

battery is not covered by the extended warranty, but the original factory warranty I believe some dealer used to honor it. my sis's 00 CLK320 had a battery replaced by roadside back when it still had the factory warranty and it was free.

uptima is a great replacement battery if your battery is dead, but you do need to fashion a way to secure it or it'll just slide around in the battery mount.

I put in the battery last night. It was not that bad, although it took me a little more than an hour. Thanks for the input guys. The forum is getting addictive

I bought a front grill from ebay for 150 after shipping. I hope that was a good price. I figured it was easy to remove the grill, but is the hood ornament easy to remove?

The hood emblem shouldnt be difficult. I still need to do that myself. I concentrated on power before cosmetics. I think I will switch gears and do the grill and emblem now.
Here is a thread that might help you. Do you know how to execute searches inside the forum?
