Idiot driver backs into my car!!!!!!

So im waiting for a vehicle to back out of a parking space at a store. Next thing I know there is a huge Chevy Avalanche backing out of a space to my left. Before I could react she smashes me in the side. All I see is her license plate in my window. Idiot!! I got out to see the damage. F@(k man. I throw my hands up and just start going off. To make it worse it starts raining(the same storm that rolled thru Atlanta today). I try to get back in my car and the damn door wont open. Its jammed. *****!!! I had to crawl thru the passenger side. Needless to say there wasnt a scratch on the Avalanche. She asks me, "Were you always behnd me because I didnt see you". Well DUH thats obvious. Any guesses to the cost estimate? Im taking it in on Monday. Noeone was hurt
Thanks for listening.

I feel your pain!

I drove up to Montana this last Christmas and was blasted by a passing semi with rocks. They use some pretty nasty stuff on the roads during the winter months. Claimed it on my insurance and got a check for 4497.00

I would be suprised if you didn't get a new drivers door! Or at least a new door skin.

I feel your pain and your rage! We have tons of oversized SUV's around hear driven by oblivious mini women. Damage is $3,500 to $4,000 -- two new doors (insist), driver's lock assembly and handle, and paint. The good news is though, neither you nor she were hurt.

Whoa, sorry to see that. Particularly after all of the TLC you’ve bestowed upon it.

Compulsory Parktronic® is not too far away, according to the minions at DOT. The NHTSA and IIHS have already chimed in their two cents’ worth on its efficacy. They’ve already implemented their edict regarding ABS and ESP, with cost (and frustration) savings as the result. It could be next.

Hope you get it squared away pronto without too much trouble.

Murphy's law. She couldn't have just backing into either the front or back door -- She had to take out both. Good luck with the fix.

$1884.97 with a new front driver door and all the moldings. Also new paint for whole driver side and new V6 kompressor badge. Rear door will be repaired. That sounds fairly inexpensive to me. Watcha think? Thanks for the support.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
Sounds inexpensive. The worst part will be matching the paint. Good thing the whole side is being repainted. Good Luck.

At $1888 it does sound inexpensive but keep an eye out for the color matching cause silver is very hard to match so use a very qualified body shop. Glad you are ok...just think it could always be worse!

As meticulous as I am about my Auto, there better not be a silver metal flake out of place. It was after that huge storm that killed some folks in Atlanta and rolled thru Fayetteville, NC. It was raining hard as hell. I felt sorry for the cop that came to do the report, he was drenched. Thanks for the help.

who's insurance is paying for the $1800? did you find your own shop or use one that the insurance recommended? i'd find my own shop as they are less likely to skimp on the repairs. also, if you're having trouble with the other side's insurance, you can use your own..and they will subrogate from the other side's insurance. since it's ultimately not on their dime (clear liability), your insurance should be more generous with the spending.

At least you were there and know who did it. Someone smashed my 2000 Corvette a year ago and didn't even leave a note. That cost MY insurance company $4k.

The good news is they're painting your entire side, which should make the blending process easier, and imperfections harder to spot. I would however recommend using a certified MB repair facility, or preferably the actual dealership. I think they'd be more prone to get it right, as well as stand behind their work. You'd also be more likely to be guaranteed a factory match on the paint color. Even though any shop will have access to the paint codes, you still have to rely on them to mix it properly, or their particular supplier to mix it properly. I'd be a little leary of it unless you've seen their work previously on other cars and agree it's dead-on. Don't settle for the $1800 unless it covers the repair at an accredited facility to your liking. Ive had enough cars painted over the years to know that you get what you pay for, so don't ever skimp on it.
You should simply demand the car be returned to you in exactly the same condition it was in pre-wreck. Don't accept anything less!

Price seems reasonable. If you have dings/nicks in your hood (like I do!) now is the time to get it painted well. The shop should not charge much more for this. They may even bill the insurance co (but I didn't say that!! ).

Good news is the body shop is located on the same lot and does all the work for the Benz dealer so thats good. Ive heard nothing but good things about them. Its going to take 5 days to fix. I have to then immediately drive it to Charleston SC to ship it to Germany.
