Clear versus Smoked Side Markers

I was looking at swapping out the amber side markers on my Black C55 and came across some smoked ones as well.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06...3010QQtcZphoto

Most people seem to have the clear variety, but I wondered if anyone had pics of the smoked--I'd be curious to see a couple shots (if anyone has them) before choosing.

Thx!

I had mine smoked on my black C32 and will be doing it again on my C55. I think it makes the front look "cleaner" - especially on a black vehicle. I will try to find some pics...

Its a shame those lenses don't have the right fit. Water seems to fill them up fast. I paid something like $80 for stealth bulbs and lenses and a few weeks later, the lenses filled up with water and burnt the bulbs - great waste of money on that. I bought a replacement pair off ebay - the same lenses. After throwing back the German made stock amber ones and seeing how nice they fit... The smoked lenses look nice, but they are the same as the clears and cheap as what you'd expect from China. The stock ones leak too, but not nearly as bad.

Jeez how much rain are you getting?? I haven't noticed any water in mine.

I'm just pissed that the ones for our cars cost so much, whilst the normal C front ends' are half the price!

Thanks..... These are the original OEM side markers. All I did was pop them off, apply a couple of coats of Nite Shades followed by a clear coat automotive paint. Some people even wet sand to make the finish look even better...

what color is your car?

black you can go with smoked
white/silver you can go with clear
other colors I would favorite color match.

Just a light smoke on mine. I also agree that on light colored vehicles clear sides are better but on darker ones its smoked.

take the OEM side marker to a bodyshop and tell them you want to color match it to the car. should take no more than $40.

That's what I did on my M5. Cost $60 after tip for getting it done in 24hrs. However, there are no bulbs in the BMW side-markers.

I think the impact strips go for like $240! And you still have to leave the bulb connected and dangling somewhere - so you don't throw a CEL.

Thanks!

As always, thanks for all the help. Since my car is black, I'll most likely just have the markers smoked.
