Tire Advice
They are nearly worn out, and I was in the market for new tires. I was wondering if I could get some advice as to which tire will give me best traction. I am in San Francisco, so I am only looking at wet and dry traction.
It would be great if the set can provide me with at least 10,000 miles of tread too.
I have been reading the forum, and I came across street-radials, drag-radials etc. Will street-radials fit the above criteria? If yes, which brand should I use? Currently, my fronts are 225/45/17 and rears are 245/40/17.
I was looking and General Ultra High Performance summer had good dry traction and a very affordable price. Would that qualify as a street-radial?
In other words, I have read that people don't have any wheel spin with drag-radials. Is that possible with street-radials too that might fit with my stock rims?
Essentially my aim is around 10,000 miles of tread and maximum dry with reasonable wet traction. Sorry about so many questions, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am a huge believer in Brigstones 050 PP's. They have amaziong grip, but at a cost of a 140 treadwear, so they might not live up to a 10,000 mile life span.
Second choice would be for Goodyear Gs-D3's. MUCH longer life span, but they will give up a little dry traction, emphasis a little. They are also THE BEST rain tire I have ever driven on.
Last note: "Friends don't let friends buy Michelin's"
WAY over priced and rated, IMHO and from what I have seen at the track and road courses.

I can assure you that from a track perspictive, road racing/autocross/drag they are NOT the winning tire. There cost is INSANE. They are only sticky for less then 1/2 treadware, and they do NOT win at the track. Also, don't expect them to be sticky the next year. They get as HARD as a rock after one season, I know they came stock on my M roadster and were WORTHLESS the next year. This is why I made that statement.
Please, I encourage you to go to ANY track and see who is winning on whatever tire, it will not be a Michelin. Sorry for the bad news.
I agree they are a decent tire, don't get me wrong, but they give up WAY to much in adhesion and longevity to justify there INSANE price. Talk to Tirerack for some suggestions if you don't have a track nearby.
