C32 AMG
Need some input...any input will be great!

Hey guys, im thinking about switching cars but im not 100% sure yet..

I have been looking around and dont know what to do so here are my options.

1) Mod & Tune my C32
Used
2)E55 AMG
3) 335 ci
4) 645 ci
5) SLK55 AMG
6) Maserati Cambiocorsa.

So i wish that you guys can give me some ideas.

so cars that you would suggest with the price range below 45K.

LET C32 2002
1. Mod your car it will feel better and like a new beast...
2. The E55 would be a good choice if you require more room and a monster to mod
3. The SLK55 definitely would be nice and a monster to mod
4. Not huge on the 335ci but it can be chipped easily by what I hear
5. The 645ci but prefer to have the M series alot better imo
6. Maserati Cambiocorsa(what is that)

All and all if you are just looking to get into something different then start with 3.

Only other car on that list that I have driven is the Maserati. However after researching it, I was kind of put off by its 3800lbs weight and the fact that it wasnt much faster than my C32. Plus replacing the clutch even in the cambiocorsa model costs around $2000 and needs to be replaced about as often as our IC pumps.

I'm holding off for a Gransport once I can afford one since despite its marginal gains in a straight line, it is a whole lot faster in the twisties due to the modded skyhook suspension, brakes, and new software (good enough for 12 sec on the 'Ring).

I'd say keep your C32 for now since it's loss in bluebook makes it far more useful to just keep.

I see...

the loss of value in our car is also a major concern.

since i know that MB's have a higher depreciation then Bmw's....

you guys think that our ca prices will drop even more(fingers crossed) after?

buy the maserti if you can afford the maintence.

if not, just stay with the c32.

Stay away from the Maserati... it will be in the shop more than on the road.

I am a big fan of the SLK55... the looks are so aggressive and fun in the sun to top it all off. Space is not there though.

I have nothing against modding your C32 and think that factor in cost/depreciation of the other choices and its the logical choice.

If I needed a change it would be SLK55 because its like going from apples to oranges.

I'd definitely go with the E55 (if it's an 04 or up)
I have yet to see a modded C32 that matches the sheer brutality of the E55.

Well AMG-Jerry's modded C32 can keep up with a stock one but not modded I doubt but he has other mods being changed so keep an eye out...


and no its not the twin turbo...

Keep your C32 and throw some cash at some mods. It will feel like a different car.

You have to view depreciation from where you stand today, moving forward. A 3 or 4 year old car will depreciate a LOT less than a newer car. Buying new and selling in 2 or 3 years is the worst economic decision you can make. But if you're looking at a Maserati, perhaps economics has little to do with your decision. And in that case, just do what feels good.

id say either way for the tt kit for the C32 or....

and i know im gonna get ripped on big time for this one.....

get the 335i. with piggyback, dps, and fmic, people are running 12.1s at 114-115 and with drs, running high elevens. all on pump gas. those three mods ~ $2K-$3K

Stay away from the M6's. Have heard too many stories of imploding engines ... imagine that a ///M car with a bad engine design ... On that list I'd do the E55 first (04 +) then the SLK55. One that isn't on there for some reason is the C55 ... ?

On a sidenote... cant wait to see that setup on the 135

well im not considering the C55 is because it's too similar too our cars and that it wouldnt make much sense to change to a car so alike.

Unless you are used to driving 500+ horse power cars around on a daily basis...the C32 you are considering "sending to pasture"...will scare the holy cr#p out of you the first time you drop the hammer after a complete install of Stage 2+ performance modifications.

Jerry at LET says my car will be pushing 22psi boost after the install of their 185mm pulley & ECU tune!!!

We need to keep and preserve these little secret weapons for future generations to come!!


My 8 year old little boy has already asked if it can be his car someday...

Wait til track day to see the results of stock to Stage 1 to Stage 3 and decide then if you really need to get a different car...you will be amazed by a simple pulley swap...

I've read they won't make an "M1" simply because that name-designation was used for their iconic supercar. However, if you search for "tii concept" you'll find a much more purposeful 1-series concept car the BMW design studio produced... we may see a 135tii which would be a great 2nd car, IMHO.

what do you need? what you going to use it for? is money a concern? i got a c55 cause i needed 4dr / automatic but wanted something that was fun to drive if it wasn't stick. the c55 has enough hp to be fun without the stick. i was also thinking that i wanted a big v8 because their days are numbered. if i had to pick from your list and didn't have any other considerations: slk55. but what i really want is a lotus elise!

I almost plunked down the $$ for a 135i, until I found out that it's less than 200lbs under the weight of the full-size sedan! Even a tii will not address the problem. What BMW needs to do is release a 1-Series on a DIET! Perhaps a tii with a lightweight, high-specific-output turbo 4-cylinder, cloth, manual seats, no sunroof, no nav, light HVAC controls, etc. Imagine a 1-series that only weighed 2700-2800lbs instead of 3200. Basically, a modern version of a 2002 or at least an E30
