racing friends to Vegas. C55 Vs 737 jet
So A few friends of mine and myself are headed to Las Vegas. The game is like one you would see on Top Gear. We have $100 bet that they will beat me to Vegas flying from Phoenix (one hour flight). I will be driving my C55 there flight leaves at 11:15am so they are leaving to got to the airport at 9:00am and at that time I will be hoping in my car and hitting the road headed to Vegas.
Things they have to do... wait for their flight, Hope they are not delayed, go to baggage claim, wait in the taxi line (can be a long wait in Vegas on a Friday) take a cab to the hotel.
Things I have to do... leave at exactly 9am, find away to make up about 40min, stop for gas at least once, hope i dont hit traffic (shouldn't as im heading far away from traffic areas other than Vegas traffic.) don't get pulled over, Vegas is about a 4 hour 20 drive normally from were i am in the PHX area.
I don't think I will have to speed just make as few stops as possible. My guess is it will take them 3hours 45 min from the time they leave there house to the time they get to the hotel. anyway it will be fun to hit the road in the 55 when i get to a computer i will let you know who won.

Dont forget a set of run flats that will save you changing a tire
Good luck anything can happen at the airport. I live there most of the time. I have come to the conclusion is if it is about 4 houres to drive that is the best bet. Plus you get to enjoy the car and not not around a bunch of germs

If they are flying American the money is yours. They have cancelled something like 2000 flights this weekend. Bad part about that is you may be running solo in Sin City all weekend. Actually, I am in Vegas this weekend throwing my brother a bachelor party. If they don't show let me know you can run with us. I have the King Pin suite at the Palms and LOTS of entertainment lined up for tonight! Plus we met up with some hot girls (20 of them) on a bachelorette party in from Texas.

ML320, Looking for my S4
3 HOURS AHAHAHAHAHAHA. In redline they did it in an hour and 30 mins!!!! lol.
But yeah 3 hours is a bit much. I did my trip from Alabama-NY ::Birmingham-NYC:: in under 13 hours. About 12 hours and 40 something mins.
1000 Miles. 3 Fill ups in an Audi S4 adv Speed of 90+mph

So what's the verdict? If you are not in Vegas by now you either crashed, broke down or are locked up in jail somewhere!

a quarter mile at a time
I can make it to Vegas from Chandler in 3/4 of a tank!
The big determining factor in this is the Hoover Dam and if he gets stuck behind trucks/trailers in the 1 lane sections of road. Good luck and godspeed!

I lost by 20 min. traffic at the Hoover dam slowed me up and 10 min hold up at the gas station for a broken bathroom. If i did it again I know i would win I could have made it to Vegas on one tank of gas. at 100mph getting 20mpg on gas i shouldn't have stopped all in all it was a fun drive hammering the gas. passing every car in sight. and being fallowed by a cop at 50mph for 15 min didn't help. I may have lost $100 but thats ok I hit for a $1000 on the first pull of a slot!

When that bridge is done that will make the trip much quicker for sure. that 60 mile road that leads to the dam I was moving at a really good rate of speed. people were trying to keep up with me but i wouldn't let them. then to top it off my GPS took me a strange way to Flamingo Drive were the hotel was and that ate up some time too. I would take this bet again if i had the chance. I was just about at the dam when there flight took off.
