wHAT kIND OF tIRES??

I have s 2004 C32, am in need to new tires and drive the car strictly in the late spring, Summer and Early fall in Chicago IL. After that the ML 55 comes out. Anyway, I am more interested in ultimate grip and performance in dry and rain (wet) rather than wear. Any suggestions for a great performance. I am not looking for all around snow/ice etc.

try this thread but it is really personal perference. You will get a 100 different options from 100 different people. Some go with tires that do not cost much and some spend an arm and a leg. I myself went with the Toyo T1R's and I think they grip, handle and are great in the rain.

Good tires but not costly:
Toyo, Kumho

Sticky Tires:
Bridgestone 050's

Expensive:
Goodyear F1's

These are just a couple examples

I just put the goodyear F1 tires on mine, and man they are the best tires I have ever had. AMAZING rain tractions.

But...not the cheapest....

Good luck

Can the moderators start a "Recommended Tires" sticky thread?

I feel like there's a new "what tires should I use?" thread about every week or two...

On my 2 cars.

Continentals. Quite and good handling. But if you dont rotate every 3000
your screwed. Overall give them a "B"

Pirellis. Had them on the SL55. Hated them. Wore out quick. Sounded like crap. And almost felt like a wheel bearing was out when at low speed.

Michelin`s. Have them on both cars now. Have the MXV4`s on the CL500
and PS2`s on the SL55.

Had a set of PS`s on the SL55 before the PS2`s and was amazed that they lasted almost 20,000 miles. The fronts are still at 50% wear. They did get a bit louder with age.

Have the new PS2`s with my SL65 19" wheels. Went with 295 rears.
Just the best handling car you coukd imagine.

So I guess I like the Michelins.

Very little road noise whatsoever...also some of the more quiet tires I have ever had.

Went to the Pirelli dealer here in Iceland, said they could bring them here by flight for about 900$ a piece. So I went and bought Goodyear Eagle F1's for the rear instead. For a 600$ difference per tire, I don't mind not having matching fronts and rears!!!

Loved my nitto invos on stock wheels.

I'm on 19" wheels and Michelin PS2's....not worth the extra dough.
