Can our exhaust tips be replaced?

Mine are now black and no matter how I try and clean, no improvement. Any sources on replacing this is appreciated.

You can find it on EBAY. You'll either come across the knock offs or used AMG tips. the AMG tips usually go for $100, plus factor in the cost of chopping off and welding the new ones in, around $30-50. What kind of cleaner did you try? Mine were pretty black on the bottoms. I used a fine metal polish that contained peroxide to remove tarnish, and then used a wheel polish (Mothers) It worked real well with some elbow grease. Now every time I clean the rims I use the wheel cleaner on the tips to maintain them. Meguiars instant wheel detailer is what I use to clean the rims without washing, so it works great on the tips too. If you cant find that, use glass cleaner for the chrome to maintain it.http://www.meguiars.com/?wheel-care/...iler-Mist-Wipe

Thanks for the info. I mainly used vinegar. The underneath is nice and clean
but I could never get the tops cleaned like the botoom. Yeah, it sounds like I need to remove the tarnish first. I'll try what you mentioned. Thanks.

no problem I don't remember the name brand of the polish, but it is used for jewelry and polishing silverware. the stuff looks brown and smells horrible, but works great.

Mine were literally black when I bought the car. Apparently the previous owner took no pride in keeping them clean.

I used a special metal polish I had bought at a car show a while back, and now they are very shiney and chrome again. I'll have to get the name of the product I used and I know they have a website. I'll check when I get home.

It took about an hour to do both tips, but they look great now. No need to replace them. Just clean them. It may take some serious rubbing, but it will work.

Here's the website for the product I used to clean my exhaust tips, and any other chrome you deal with.

http://www.metalgloss.com/

The stuff works great! To my knowledge, it's not sold in auto parts stores. I bought it at the new car show in Houston several years ago.
