I think RennTech ECU and pulley is like $3295.

My vote goes to the LSD.

Assuming you are completely stock, I will spend my first $2K in a CLK grill, lowering springs, CF lip, tint, a V1 and you are still under $2K...

Modding the NA 55 engine is a rip off.

2 suggestions, both are likely win-win situations...
1) Quaife LSD + X-Pipe (prob the cheapest mod)
or
2) Headers + X-Pipe + ECU Tuning
But if you can do both 1 and 2... you'll likely turn your baby beast in to a grown monster.

The VRP headers look like a good buy (infact best price yet for C55 headers) But I would like to see some specs on them for a C55..
Renntech ECU $1700 time is only a few hours
Kleemann ECU $1400 not with tax and that takes 3 days. I might be leaning to Renntech ECU, Sprintbooster and new rear tires.

you have to work with what you got so..... I do plan on piecing to gether a monster.

I was able to talk the renntech dealer down to $1400 for The ECU out of pocket and i just have to wait a few hours to get the car back. That includes dyno run to see gains. And they are giving me renntech badges for the car for free (whoopee!!) I was also told if i went with another company for headers they would reflash the ecu if needed. This guy seemed to understand the C55 owners gripe about cost of parts for a $27K car. so so when i go with headers it will be most likely from a maker other than renntech to keep cost down.

anyone have any thoughts on using a sprintbooster with flashed ECU? maybe i should search that before i ask.

my 2 cents is that if you wanna tuned car, sell the c55, and get a car you can tune. If $2,500 is nothing for you then continue on. I know its a nice car but 5k on an extra 100hp to the wheels not worth it.

I'm going with Renntech's ECU for now. I got big plans for this car. VRP headers are on the list CF airbox or E55 airbox, Full suspention, wheels, LET Cams, and maybe a SC down the road if the price drops. I just feel its car to even see a C55 let alone a decked out one. I want to go all out but going to take it a few parts at a time. I would like to know more about the VRP headers on a C55.

Deposit on a GTR?

Seriously, you can spend a LOT of money trying to move a car into a different classification (from sport sedan to supercar) and it may or may not work. One thing is for certain, you will not get your investment back when you sell it.

That said, with the price of fuel, global warming hysteria, and the possibility of an all-Democrat government, we might not see a lot of HP increases over the next 5 or 10 years. Some of us were alive to remember the Jimmy Carter era. 5.7 liter V8s pumping out 150HP.

Sounds like fun I too am in the process of doing an ECU, headers, pullies, new rims, H&R springs, racing Cats and maybe cams! I know a lot of people are saying dont modify a NA engine but hell I love my car and I love modding so why not have fun with it!

Yea the VRP headers as an introductory price will be $1499 which is half of what Kleemann and RennTech charges!

A real monster would cost you ten times. I think the ultimate c55 is still dragon's Kleemann S7
