c32 speedo

Do you guys actually like the speedo layout ?

Its probably the only thing about the 32 that I don't like.

Is it something that you eventually get used to ? I mean , compared to the C55's cluster, the 32's is so old man-ish.

Am I the only one that thinks so ?

I don't like the entire layout of the dash.

However the gas pedal, I love.

I think it's fine... if you don't like it though, you can swap the CLK cluster in its place... a few w203 C-class folks have done this mod - you can probably do a search for it if you want to see pics (search the regular w203 forum as well, if you limit it to forum).

Good to know. I was wondering if there was an option.

In deciding between the 32/55 , I'm leaning towards the 32 mainly due to bang for the buck.

Seems like there's so much more available for the car, and the aftermarket R&D is healthy and evolving.

Don't see quite as much happening for the 55. , and I'm not interested in dropping a 211 e55 motor in the car.

Thanks.

Before you decide on one or the other, drive both back to back if you can. I hated the speedo in my C32 and, if I still had it, might of tried upgrading it to the CLK one....

I agree with Vic on this!! I own both engines (55 and C32) and trust me, if you're looking to mod, the C32 is MUCH MUCH easier and less expensive to mod than the 55 engine. Not that the 55 engine is bad, its just that much harder to mod. Except for res delete, ECM Reflash, headers and air box, wwires and plugs, theres not much price-wise that you can do to the 55 engine for less than $1000. For less than $1000, you can pulley a C32 and add an intake, get a Sprint Booster for the throttle and add some KNs and you're still under $1000. These alone should be good for 1/2 to 3/4 of a second in the qtr mile and couple MPH. You can also go to a LET crank pulley and add the SC pulley for less than $2000 and then you're close to 63 territory and definitely faster than an M3.

Yes, that's my take as well. You update this and that to get a new updated clean look and all you have left is 3000.00 bi-xenons on a car worth 20,000.00. I'd love to get rid of the frosty's but not at 1.6K to 3K -- that would sure help out a little as a down on a C63

That's a little optimistic, isn't it? Sprintbooster from a reputable source is at least $250... and I think it's likely closer to $300 or so these days. Code3's pulley and intake (I presume this is what you're referring to) is $700... and I'm pretty sure you can't buy C32 K&N's for $25 each. But, for a grand total that should be under $1,100... it wouldn't be too bad... except you really should upgrade the pump and HE if you're increasing boost, and that's close to another $500 if you go LET (just under $600 for Code3) - pretty soon you're knocking on the door of $2k, assuming you DIY and don't pay any labor.

Either way, I would hope a modded C32 would be faster than an E46 M3, at least in a straight line...

I'm not a big fan of the huge speedo, but it doesn't bother me at all since I always use the digital one, love it!
