Misfire under load due to cracked Evo sport header
CEL has been on and off for over 6 months, due to cylinder 6 misfire. visited several garages and changed the spark plugs, coils, fuel filter twice, still no luck. last week, I went to another garage for another thorough check, and they finally found out that one of my headers is cracked, got it welded and now my car is running happily ever after, SINCE it has a CP+SC pulley combo installed.
p.s.:the purpose of this post is just a reference for anyone who has got his CEL on but can't figure out the problem.

Damn that sucks. How do you like the Evosport headers? I still have to install mine. Did you notice any gain?

why would you have it welded? I'd send it back for a new set. If those welds failed the others might as well etc. I had a set of POS JBA headers that did that on my supercharged bronco 5.8l. They also ate plug wires like crazy!

For that kind of coin, I would certainly want a new set.

They had custom ones back then. There was a custom made SC pulley for sale in classfields not too long ago, might still be there.

Ok I understand custom but do you remember what size and who made or sold it? I was leaning on trying the C3P S/C pulley with my 178 pulley but this scared me luckily it was only the header that took the major damage but who knows maybe his wallet did too since he took it to several shop to diagnose the problem til it was found.

M M will have to clarify... I read his post COMPLETELY differently than you. Basically, I thought it sounded like he's saying his car is running happily ever after DUE TO the CP + SC pulley combo, now that he's had the header crack fixed.
NOT that the CP + SC pulley combo somehow CAUSED the header crack, which seems to be how the rest of you are taking it...

mdncn2762: well, I would say the gain is there but not really dramatic, no touque loss though.
spr, hooleyboy and MRAMG1: it's too much hassle to ask them for a new set, so if it could be fixed, I'd just fix it right away.

Now a question???
Whose S/C pulley you have and what size crank pulley are you using? If you can please try to dyno it with combo pullies...

02 C32 AMG sold!
Glad to hear you fixed your problem, but when having cracked headers, didn't
you hear a nasty exhaust leak?
Also having a crank pulley / supercharger pulley combo with no tune, CAN
cause the car to run lean, and WHEN you run lean the exhaust temperature
goes through the roof.

c32used: asp 178mm + code3 56.8mm SC.
nerhouma: i didn't hear the exhaust leak though, maybe there's something wrong with my ears!
without a program, I think my car tends to run rich.

Are you planning to do a dyno? Because I think you're the first person who is using an sc pulley and a crank pulley in combination. A lot of people are interested in the result. Do you think you can do a review?
Which pulley did you have first? and how did it feel once you got a 2nd one? Do you get belt slip? Does you sc overheat? Have you done 1/4, dyno?

Anyway, I'm running ASP + Code3 and my car pulls very hard in the mid-range, but I lost A LOT of power above 5000 RPM. Jerry @ LET has my ECU as we speak however, and I am confident this will fix the problem.
