Not certain about the C32 but I have seen a writeup for the C55 to convert the button shifter to paddles.

have a look at this

http://twistmachine.com/shopping/ind...6ecea5625bbbe7

the other option would be to look at a C55 steering wheel I believe they came with buttons on the rear of the wheel and I have seen replacement Paddles that fit these

found this while googling, use RF or some other form of wireless to communicate to the control unit.

VRP Paddle Shifters

VRP has paddle shifters on their website--says that they fit W203--but it appears that they're not for sale yet...

These retro fit the C55 in place of the buttons. no good for us C32 owners

Compatible with: C(203) CLK(209) CLS(219) SL(230) CL SLK 55/65 AMG The VRP paddle shifters are made to fit in the STOCK mounting location WITHOUT any cutting, hacking, splicing, or wiring changes. The paddles were designed to be a "button" replacement and have no electronics. A lot of attention was paid to the click and feel to make them as perfect as possible, the paddles are available in 2 finishes, PIANO BLACK and CARBON

Question

I believe that the oem paddle shifters could be retrofitted onto newer '05+ W203, but for those of us with older W203, we cannot retrofit them since we have an older front SAM. Oem paddle shifters would be the best solution, but the retrotek paddle shifters look interesting. Their shop is not far from where I work, about 10 min down the street. I might call them and drop by during a lunch break to get more info. I don't want to order those without knowing if they would work or not.

I work half day tomorrow, so I'll drop on by their place and get some info from Retrotek. I'll bring my extra steering wheel and take pics to see how it would look. Only thing I'm really concerned about is the electrical connections. The module would probably need to be wired to the connections on the EGS/ TCM. But I can look up on my DAS/WIS for that info. I seriously doubt that Retrotek would know how to install it on a Mercedes.

I went over to retrotek today. Those paddles won't work with our steering wheels with airbags. They would work with a Momo or Sparco aftermarket steering wheel, but not ours. It might be possible to get it to work, but it would require alot of modification to their paddles and to our steering wheel. Waaayyy too much work IMO. I also do not want to use a steering wheel without airbag.
