Latest CLS Classes (next few years)

For those Fans of the C Classes which technically DOES include the CLS, there's some exciting news out of Germany. We can expect this to trickle down to the sedans as well. The CLS 350 will get an increase from 292 HP to a new 306 in a couple of years. This the 3.5 litre engine we've been hoping for in the C32 (we'd like it supercharged of course). Its normally aspirated.

CLS550 gets the 435 HP direct injection engine (up from current 388) WOW!!!

CLS 55 AMG (This is the bad boy 5.5 litre V-8 570 HP twin turbo (Erick of LET was ahead of his time here!!)

CLS 320 CDI with 313 HP , up from the current 224 HP (diesel car).

All of these have me excited to see what the next sedan will get!!!!

a C32 AMG & S-Works Tarmac
Nice info, except the CLS is in no way related to the C-class (except for the "C" in its name). The CLS is more closely related to the S-class (thus the S in its name) but is a completely stand alone class of automobile.

Sorry for nit-picking. Please keep any pertinant information coming our way.

Scott, You are correct, except that in the lower CLS classes such as the CLS 350, , the trickle down has always been to the C Class Sedans (in the smaller engines). I'd love to see a 3.5 litre C35 AMG with either supercharger or twin turbos at about 450 HP!! The nice thing is, this is just a SIGN of things to come and the introduction of the Black Series 65 at almost 700 HP is amazing in these times. Car-wise, we do live in both uncertain (electric and hybrid and CNG etc) and exciting times (AMG and Black Series) . Personally, I can see tarted up diesels as being the future.

Also, I cant see the 63 engine hanging around long as MB moves to Direct Injection and turbocharging in all of its cars. Maybe two years till 2011 at best?? I do see the 55 engine from way back making a come back though.

The CLS is NOT in the same class as the C. Drop the "C" on it and call it an LS since its a step above the E and closer to the S. I was reading Automobile Magazine this morning and have to say the new CLS and the CL are pretty slick looking rides.....

The 219 CLS is based heavily on the 211 chassis E Class. Very much related to E class.

and still drives like a boat.

the 350 engine if does come in 300+ hp you can expect that in the w204 as well.

I'll give the C63 3-years tops before they replace it with a newer (hopefully lighter and more efficient) engine given the trend on the C-class AMG cars. Although the fastest C AMG ever the C63 you can tell something went wrong along the design route making it a 4000lb "sport sedan" the E63 and M5 barely weight just a little more. The C32/55 did it's job at taking on the E46 M3, but I think the C63 just totally went off in another direction.
