Smile best exhaust for the c32?

Well, I am extremely happy with my new Benz its an amazing car!

I was wondering what aftermarket exhaust is better for our car? I am looking for a louder sound. Thanks.

110% and if you still crave a bit more, lose the secondary cats too. Don't waste your money only to be disappointed or think its too loud.

Here is a link to mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROtgZfeDZNs The video is crap and my camera at the time only recorded 15 seconds at a shot, but you will get the jist of it. I had this done almost right after I purchased the car and couldn't be happier with the sound.

To the OP, save your money and just remove the rear cats and resonator. You won't be disappointed. Put the money saved under the hood.

I'm almost positive that one of our long-time members in good standing would not become a poser, let alone post a vid of his indiscretion.

It must have been an optical illusion. There is just no other explanation.

It is likely an optical disillusion. Don’t C55’s have outlets on both sides and sound like a V8?

86 your resonator first. It’s cheap and easy. Many here have done it and are universally pleased. Headers help too.

100% agreed I dont even understand why mercedes even put one on the C32, Its not any louder really inside, and outside sounds amazing, especially when you start AMG up in the morning on a cold start........ plus by losing it you save a few pounds. (not that it makes a difference with little weight lost but it adds up)

Yeah the only internal noise that it adds is kind of a slight drone at about 85mph, which unfortunately is my cruising speed most of the time. However music tends to drown most of it out. Too bad we don't have the 7 speed! haha

But it gets a cool burble sound at idle and is much better sounding at full throttle.

Yes you do.lol You had commented on that in the past as well Frank. Previous owner slapped a 55 badge on the back for some reason. It's long gone.

I can tell you this, there is just a touch of rasp for a couple of moments during hard acceleration. If you were to free up the the flow by adding a low cell cat like the Magnaflow, more sound will come. I and have a hunch that it will be more rasp. I believe Jerry had all 4 cats removed? I think he mentioned that it too was raspy? Those primary cats are no fun to get to, therefor, will cost good $ just to chop and swap. If you don't like it, it just cost you double.

jturkel, are you in or around Scottsdale this week? if you want, we can meet so you can get a better feel for the exhaust before you do your swap.

i will not be in scottsdale this week but might be in two or three weeks. i won't have time to bring my car in to the shop until at least then though...so those cats wont be going on yet. if i go up, i will let you know.

out of curiosity, any idea how much a shop will charge for the installation of these primary cats (magnaflow race)?

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
Cutting out the secondary Cats does not trigger a CEL?? I thought it did.

Nope. If you replace the primary cats you need to be careful or it "could". Primary AND secondary cats you are guaranteed to throw CEL. Not to mention it would sound like ars.

How bad (or loud) is the sound if you just lose the resonators??? Annoying at 60 MPH or nice rumble that you can hear just below the radio??
