Help with Part Identification

Recently, I got my C32 serviced, and I noticed a cracked part near the intake. I am under the extended ELW warranty, and the service advisor said that the part would not be covered. According to him, the part and labor for it is $213.

It looked relatively trivial to me, and I think that price is probably not warranted for that part. Can anyone please help me identifying this part (the one circled in red), and how difficult is it to replace it?

Thanks.

Thanks.
I can't see the crack and at that price, I'd install yourself. Is both sides cracked? I'd google something too if they gave you the part number on the estimate.

Thats just a sound resonator/moisture trapper for the air filter box. Nothing crucial at all. Have the little tabs on the side of it cracked and separated? It's nothing to worry about at all. That price the dealer gave you seems like its for the whole intake (both sides), since I don't think they sell it one half at a time.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the tabs on the side have separated. The box closes in, but because of the lack of tabs it is not secure. Whenever I close it and drive the car for a while, it opens up again.

The dealer said it was 162 for the left side airbox and air filter with 51 for the labor. Can I stick the box using something else?

both of mine are broken and i havent felt the need to replace them. i know it sounds kind of ghetto/ricey/non-mercedes-like, but i just ziptie them shut and i havent had a problem.

also, installing that takes like a minute. i wouldnt pay 51 for labor. if you really want to replace the part, order it somewhere online (like parts.com or something) and install yourself.

That's a silencer/muffler for your intake so you don't hear any noises from the engine and/or supercharger. If you're worried about it just replace the entire intake system with one from an SL55 for $3xx.xx and be rid of the silencer along with picking up a good 20+rwhp.

it is very easy to replace, and the dealer quoting $213 or $162 + labor is plain B.S.
You don't need a new air filter ( 440 on the diagram below) either, but if I remember correctly, the air filter came inside the air box (400) already.

Here's the C32 intake diagram:

piece # 400 equates to part # A 112 090 09 01 - Drivers side airbox
$75.90

I installed a bunch of these pieces on my N/A C320 V6 3.2L engine.

Thank you very much. It sort of felt like a less than 100$ fix. I will ask the dealer for the part and probably try this over the weekend.
