Remote

Sunday when I went to lock the doors with my remote it would not lock them. Once I got the car locked from the inside it would unlock the car but not lock it.

I then went and got my spare remote and that locks and unlocks the doors just fine.

I am assuming it is the battery going bad in the remote that will not lock the doors? It just confused me that if the battery is bad why will it allow me to unlock the doors with it but not lock them.

So am I correct saying it is the battery on it's way out and soon the unlock feature will also stop working on that remote?

Funny OT story. I lost the gascap on an old A4 that I had--went to the dealer for a replacement and it was north of $120 if I recall correctly. After a quick trip to Pep Boys, I had a gascap for $15 or so...

Moral of the story--avoid the dealership at all costs.

I'd love to know how much MB would charge for the replacement battery, BTW.

Thanks guys I thought it may be a special item I had to buy at the stealer. I will just now have to do a search and see how to remove the battery from the fob.

Can anyone provide me directions or a link for replacing the battery in the key fob? I did some searching and could not find any info.

Thanks
