How much abuse?

how much abuse can these C32's withhold as far as racing, drag passes etc...? How about C32's that have mods done to them, does that make it harder on the engine or does it allow it to run more efficiently?
So, this question if for the people that use their C32's the way they are supposed to be used....Can these engines withhold a lot of abuse from your experiences?

i've blown two rear main seals. not sure if they were related to any of the pulley kits i have had on my car or just coincidences.

if you are driving your car harder, especially with great power and at greater boost (like with pulley kits and whatnot) it is going to diminish the lifespan of your car.

with a tune, these mods will run more efficiently and will be "nicer" to your car

I was at the drag last night and i ran 10 passes. I was thinking the same thing. I know cruzinquick has a modded srt-6 with the c32 motor and he trailers it to the strip. It only has 3200 miles one it and I think most of those miles (no joke) are from drag pass! He runs in the 12's and i dont think he's ever cleaned his airfilter on his needwings intake His car runs so good every single pass. These AMG motors can take a beating thats for sure. Its all about preventative care for your car, and you should have no problem racing your car. I always worry about the brakes when i'm at the strip, so I always take the second turn off so i dont kill my brakes. that seems to be my biggest fear right now. the best you can do is have some real good oil and a good coolant mix If you got that this motor "should" be able to with stand all you can throw at it.

Never mind those SRT6 pilots. They invariably run quicker than our sedans.

How well did yours run?

I take care of mine, but love the track as well. I would also recommend getting everything professionaly installed and TUNED

jturkel - did you replace the rear main yourself or have someone else do it? Any idea on how many hours of labor are involved in removing the tranny?

I've got the same problem. The inside of the bell housing is moist and it's not tranny fluid.

Thanks!

fortunately, my car was under warranty both times this occurred and I am not mechanically inclined or automotively knowledgeable enough to do this job. the dealership did it for me.

and i dont know how long it takes to remove the tranny. perhaps someone who knows could respond to this.

Okay, enough of this straight line talk for a bit. Lets face facts, 13 seconds of wide open throttle is NOTHING. Heck, our cars shift for you so you CAN'T over rev. Now with that being said, MANY guys here road race their toys. THATS ABUSE And NONE of them have EVER reported problems, atleast from the drive train point of view. Try staying on the throttle for 20-25 seconds at a clip, or sustained 4000+ RPMs for 20-30 Minutes my friends.THIS IS HARD DRIVING. Again, NO one that I have heard about has hurt their drivetrain.

Anyway, these cars have BULLET proof drive trains and most of the problems are the standrard MB electrical gremlins. Heated seat failures, IC pump failures, memory seat modules, etc, etc. The cars are GOOD as far as reliability/beatability.

See yeah

You just made me feel better about potentially owning the 32 after warranty.
