the air pump issue since he said the dealer told him it was taking time for the car to warm up thus the delay in upshift from increases idle speed.Secondary air pump installed cars or any other system meant to help inject extra air ti fire up the cat converters in the mercedes engines do it in under two minutes,that is why most owners will feel a certain abruptness to the first few upshifts on a cold morning if they take right off after a cold start.But not banging gears at 2 grand,that sounds like my 425 hp 57 chevy with the 700r4 automatic that smacks you in the back at every upshift.You live with it in a hot rod you don't accept it in the benz.Something is not right and if it is not fixed it is going to end up in a costly repair.
Find a better shop.Drain,don't flush the fluid mb spec only.
and then adapt the TCU trans control unit.
