Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

Does anyone know if the temperature of the 2002 xenons and the new 2003 bi-xenons are the same? I know the 2002 are somewhere in the 4000K range since they are white. The bluish ones are 6000K. I saw xenon fog light kit for the w203. There were 2 types - a 4300K and a 6000K.

same for 02 and 03, according to the tech dude at my local MB dealer. The color of the glare really is minimally affected by the color temperature. It depends on the tint of the lens. Ebay has folks selling 12000k H6 HID kits for MB fog light, cost roughly $500.

if you are going strictly for looks, then upgrade your fogs to xenon. if you want functionality, thats the worst possible thing to do. xenons are very bright, reaching a very far distance. fogs are bright but they project very short beams, thus helping to see through fog. xenon fog lights used are much worse in the fog as opposed to regular halogen ones.

Yeah, I want it strictly for looks. There's no fog in Chicago.

The new BiXenons are much better than the normal xenons. If you have them installed you don´t need fog lights anymore

same temp for both xenon or bi-xenon. It's just that the bi-xenon has a adjustable lense within the projector that let out more light when it's on highbeam. Low beam is the same, works the same except the look is different. Some prefer the new clear lense look and some don't. I could care less for the bi-xenon since there are not much of chance to use highbeams. But of course, if you want to retro fit, the newer the better.

Hey frank!

I saw both and the new bi xenons make more light. I will upgrade my old ones. Some guys are selling the bixenons on ebay for 500 euro (both!).

well, I think that's because the projector lense concentrates the light and make it projects longer than the old reflecting technic. The older xenon will cover less distance, but wider area. the new bi-xenon covers longer distance, but slightly narrower area in front of the car.

I just saw a 2003 C32 on the road. The new ones do not appear to be brighter in terms of actual light projected onto the road. Looking at the assembly itself, it looks brighter because it is more concentrated at the source. It's impossible to be sure without a side by side comparison, but if you are after a functional upgrade, look elsewhere.

I have the BiXenons, upgraded from the Xenons.

Since I can't use the hi-beams much in the bay area, I did the upgrade totally for the more "modern" look, and to make my car a little different. The low-beam performance is hardly any better.

As backup to my statement imagine this: I would sell my old Xenons if I got the right price and keep the BiXenons installed. But since there are no seroius folks to buy the older variety for what I think is a "fair" price (lots of lookey-loos though). I will just keep the old ones, when I tire of the "new look" I will replace the old back in and sell the Bi's for as much as I paid. I got a good deal on mine, and I'll just recoup my investment later. The reasoning is simple Bi's are the latest craze, not the basic Xenons, so the Bi's will always be easy to sell. BTW list price on these lamps is very expensive. If you can get either type for $500, you should do it. I wouldn't sell my extra regular Xenon set for that.

Hi frank,

nope, the new lights cover a wider area and a longer distance too
