c32 drilled brake rotors

i noticed something odd last week. saw a c32 and perchance saw the passenger side front rotor...it was backwards. the holes swept forward. went to the otherside, it was swept back. seems like mb simply drilled rotors one direction so there wouldn't be almost duplicate costs. is it true? or did somebody's c32 got jacked when he got it....

my cousin says he noticed that on the new s-class brakes too

I think you might be right. it's not affecting the braking power though.

MB has very few directional rotors. It simply costs less to produce one type than two.

you sure got that right

MB has already become cheap/price cutting when the 86-91 S-class ended production. my dad use to have a 86 300 SEL and that car has basically zero problem other than the air condition needs to be adjusted to fit the warmer climate in Taiwan.

I think many cars have "wrong-direction" rotor holes. My Porsche 993 had them, I believe. It makes no difference performance-wise, so there is no point to make two different parts when one will do.

People have commented about Porsche wheels, particularly the "Turbo" wheel, which also look like they go the "wrong" way on one side of the car. Again, there is no performance difference, just a debatable "look" difference.

Performance wise, it will make a difference, but the question is how many people take their brakes to that level?. Vented rotors require to be spun a certain direction in order to cool properly. And ensure equal braking on both sides. But then again, these are street cars, and technically are not supposed to be used outside their normal limitations.

FYI, Brembo spends a little more money on their GT kits and has directional rotors.

cracks can appear when used on the track, but what's with the color change? I remember that thread.

The color change, aka the gold edition occured due to the heat build up on the calipers.

Test C32AMG & SL55AMG brake performance, 100 mph -> 0, they're terribly smoking but still work !
It takes only 4.5s to stop a C32 from ~100 mph.
(AP dynamic takes 4.3s, price talks if you insist)
Both AMG rotors are single direction but good.

I will try to get pictures tomorrow, my camera is being borrowed right now.

We sell H&R spacers for virtually any car (we only stock BMW/Mercedes/Ferrari), so if you need spacers, I can help.
