why are c55's selling so cheap..? a couple of weeks ago a ran into a 2005 that had a sticker price of $23,500 at a porche dealer, i figured it probably already had its good run and getting close to 100k miles. i took a look at it and it only had 48,000 miles..! i paid $23,000 for my 2002 c32 with 32k miles but i would rather have the c55. i checked the c55's value in the kbb and its still valued at $28,000..

sporty cars dont really sell in winter months. also the economy is bad and most cars are selling way under true market value .

When I bought mine (2 mos ago) I got it with 31k miles for the same money here in MN-I work in the Auto Finance branch-it amazed me (and a couple others here) at how much car you can get with little investment. C55 is def diamond in the rough for V8 cars! Good find!

Nice! It's always at a time I'm never looking. I may go with a V8 the next time around.

Thats an amazing deal, I paid a couple g's less than that but mine had over 2x the mileage.

Great time to be buying these cars, guess its why so many new owners are popping up.

Just a year ago, that car would have gone for 10k more. Mercedes values are tanking hard!

I'd say it really isn't just the car's fault. I mean we are in a recession.

This is probably someones sig but it's still fantastic.

Yowza I paid $25.5k for an '02 C32 with 29k on it two years ago and that was a really good deal at the time for a CPO. Provided this car doesn't have hidden issues, it really underscores how far the economy and performance car market have sunk (though I'm sure the new C63 also has something to do with this). Great time to be in the market for one of these cars I guess!

Yea, sadly you’re right. Per KBB, the private party value for an ’02 E46 M3 with 40k on it in excellent condition is $20.2k. For a C32 of the same year, condition and mileage it’s only $15.8k. For you math majors, that’s about 22% less. And to add insult to injury, the C32 sold for about $5k more than the M3 when they were new.

Neither car is setting the world on fire but the C32 has clearly taken more of a hit depreciation wise. Of course, BMW M’s have historically held their value a little bit better than AMG products.

I purchased my C55 in September. It has 24k miles on it now. Lotta bang for the buck. Wish it had more horsepower...

You know i wish i was 20 years old right now working at Bestbuy, Target or Chicken Kitchen.
To be able to purchase any AMG at these prices and pick up that cute cashier chick (think of the film employee of the month) is like a dream come true.

Can you imagine rolling up to your community college parking lot with an AMG. Talk about panty droppers. I'm sure this idea was MBUSA's target audience.

Please no one get offended by me quoting working for Target or Bestbuy, they are good jobs to have when your 20 years old or any age for that matter.

On a more serious note, do AMG values drop in Europe/Asia like they do here?

yep, they do...sometimes harder then here (less buyers per capita)-and most uni girls have no idea what an AMG is....they want a rice burner with a wing...thats the "in" thing still.....those upper class ladies....they're happy in an S class is all

Yup, and you wouldn't be able to take her on a date until you came up with $1,000 to fix the clacking HVAC stepper motor The low prices are probably tempting to young drivers but, realistically, unless you are fairly affluent, this probably isn't a car I'd recommend even with the low prices due to the high repair costs and questionable reliability. And I say this as an owner/fan of these cars.
