MAP Sensor

Anyone get check engine lights with a MAP Sensor code? I was wondering what else it could be besides that..?

have you recently oiled your intake filters or installed new ones? sometimes too much oil from the filters can throw MAP sensor codes

I knew this could happen with MAF sensors, but with a MAP as well?

kindafast - if you're running a lot of boost, you can throw MAP-related CEL's due to overboost in excess of what the car expects to see. IIRC, the 185mm crank pulley cars tend to eventually throw a MAP overboost CEL when tracking the car - AFAIK, it can just be cleared w/o any detrimental effects.

Is your intercooler leaking yet? You may have a bunch of crap caked onto it by now if that the issue. The AIT sensor should go next if that is the case, followed by an automatic trans 1.6l Honda Civic motor now under the hood feeling. Yup im in that boat. sucks a$$.

yes this can happen. i remember a while back (a couple of years ago) this happened to a couple of members.

It’s far more likely that his MAP or IAT sensors would generate spurious readings due to fouling from blowby mist - owing to our inadequate OE PCV system - than one having fit aftermarket air filter elements, IMHO. A quick blast from CRC’s Electronic elixir or MAF cleaner may temporarily extinguish an errant CEL. They've worked well on mine in the past.

Nonetheless, our MAP (004 153 72 28) and IAT (006 153 80 28) sensors are relatively inexpensive bits to replace when their useful service life has expired.
