for the chicago folk
how do you Chicago area people move from point a to point b? I haven't driven my car in like over a month now and im getting tired of it. I currently have like the most expensive bridgestone summer tires on and they seriously don't do anything in the snow, its like trying to get your 7 month old baby to try to crawl from one room to the other. Anyways I'm considering getting some snow tires(not for this winter since its almost over but for the next) does anyone here have winter tires and are they really that helpful on a rwd car?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I take out my car here and there, whenever the weather permits... and i have extreme performance summer tires with little tread on the rears...
We should do a winter meet for the Chicago crew sometime in between the snow storms...

I used to live in that area. At the time I had a 02 Z06 and I drove that in the winter. Trick is to just get really good at going sideways. Then in the summer you will be able to do it like a pro!!!!
But winter tires will really make a difference especially if you stay in C mode.
Be careful....

I'm in Minneapolis, and my C32 is my daily driver. I put Blizzak LM-25s on it, and as long as I leave the traction control on and go easy on the gas I'm fine. We had a killer storm yesterday - highway was OK, 5" on unplowed areas, and made it fine.
Take the traction control off and it's a whole other story...

I got some dunlop graspic snow/tires on the C55 and it help so much. Before I had bridgestone bilzzak ws-50's on a G35 Sedan and I think those were even better then the dunlops. Get winter tires, makes a world of differents

Yea its fine driving driving in a straight line I usually park on the side street and the streets here are tilted so it always turns the car to the side. Anyways we should have another meet. The one we had like in September by Schaumburg was awesome lots of people showed, this time Ill bring my car and show some of you guys my different power steering cooler or whatever them pipes are for that those non 2004 people are missing out on.

Thats a good idea so I can finally say I beat ya (in the snow of course with the ML 55 and the Nokian Hakkepellittas) The C32 has stayed put for two months and does NOT go out in the winter at all. Two reasons: Salt and Traction!!

Have to disagree. I have the Arctic Alpins (yes, thats how they spell it for some reason) on the ML 55 and Nokians on the wifeys' truck. The newest Nokians are better than any other I've used (Blizzak, Dunlops, Graspics). They are made of canola and they flat out work in the snow and ice. Put it this way, any snow/ice tire is better than an all season and an all season is better than a summer. So, if you can do it, get the winter tire and change em out. Lil late to do that now, BUT Firestone is offering some great deals on Blizzaks right now with free mount balance and spring changeover too.

I was in my Pontiac Torrent rental, when I see this cool looking Benz up ahead. As I got closer, I see it's an ML 55 and I wondered if it was you. Is it lowered or is that that stock suspension? It looked like it sits lower than the other ones I've seen in the past.

BF Goodrich Super Sport A/S, 245s. Perfect for traction in the summer (dry or wet), great in the light snow (ESP on), and even great in the deep snow (with the ESP off and the right foot planted, however, if you plan to accelerate >_>).
Can't wait for summer, though, since even with the roads dry, you can't hardly get half the traction that you can on warm pavement. Try to goose it coming out of a corner or snap a downshift at 40mph and WAHHHH, /!\ is all ya see
