Another problem...

Lst weekend, I washed my car and parked in the garage.. After wax'n, I put the key in the ign and turn it to start so I could go get some food.. I heard starter whining but engine didn't turn..I got a lil confused and checked the voltage and everything was fine... After couple tries, car started fine like it never had a problem..

Today, while I was coming home from work, I slowed down to take a left turn and for some odd reason, car shuts off...... WTF.... I tried to start the car again but same problem occur.. Starter is working but engine didn't fire... After few tries, it works fine again...

After parking, 20 mins are passed and I tried to start the car again and I had same problem once again.. ... Few tries later, it starts fine again..

What could be the problem? When I start the car in the morning, it's fine..

Weather here in Korea is pretty damn cold at the moment.. But i guess that should have any effects since i'm having this problem when the car is warmed up... and what is up with shutting off? I'm glad it didn't shut off when I'm drivn hard and take'n turns at 40-50 mph..

I'm pretty bummed at the moment.. Any ideas?

I am wondering if some water got into the electrical somewhere. Perhaps when you turned it caused a splash and a short?

I am really just guessing. I would remove every cover you can find and look for signs of water.

But if your car is turning off while driving, I would hot shot it to the Dealership. Dont risk your life or others.....

Maybe you had some water freeze and lift a fuse slightly. I would check everything you can see. If you find nothing, take it in for service....

Problem

You said it was cold. Could be a simple as some water in the fuel tank freezing and turning into slush and obstructing fuel flow to the engine. Try adding a bottle of fuel line antifreeze. Cheap, low risk and even if it don't fix the problem it will prevent it later, lol.

Hi had the same problem on my clk it was the crank positioning sensor. Car runs fine and starts fine but once it warms up it just goes dead after say approx 20-30min. Then once engine cools down then it starts again. My car has 125 000 km on it . Just ask your MBD to check not that expensive to sort sort out cost me around $200 incl towing it.

My alternator was fine. It was the vol regulator that went bad...

Its freaking snow'n rite now..So thers no way in hell I'll drive my car to see a Mech today.. I'm pretty sure its the CPS since everyone had similiar problems in W203 forum... It was first time that engine died on me
Thank Buddah I wasn't going fast... Handle was locked and even at low speed it was hard to turn the car to avoid curve..

Hooley,

I dont think anything got in wet under the hood.. Even if it did, everything would've been dried or melted and evapolated by now. Thank you for your comment. I'll keep that in mind though. My car currently has 36000 miles.

I'll keep ya update.. I hope this won't happen to fellow members but this maybe a good future ref..

yeah its relatively easy to install just getting to it is difficult since its near the firewall by the fly wheel. There's a semi diy on the w203 forum

Just about the same. I did not have much choice nor the time. The car was in his shop and would not start easily without the CPS.
I needed the car. But, I could have done this myself. (I've done my spark plugs, CM30, Pulleys, Intake).
I know he's making money off the CPS part 'cuz he's charging me $130.00 which can be had for under $70.00.
My alarm siren went out too and is being replaced ($160.00)
He also replaced a fuse that controls the power seats. no charge.

Total: around $500.00 I think. I'm picking up the car today at noon.
Man, it's pouring out there this morning. Bay Area.
