I have a 2005 C55 AMG and would like a roof mount rack for it in good shape. Please e-mail me if you have one for sale.

sounds like airplane
very cool-
what kind of bikes do you have?
I'll be honest that I don't every bring any of my outdoor gear anywhere near my AMG, but I love to ride.

Thule makes a rack kit for the rest of the world, but for some reason doesn't sell it in the states. The curious bit is that they used to sell a very similar one in the states for an Audi TT, of which there's probably 100 w203s for every TT.

I have a Specialized Stump Jumper mountain bike and Orbea Road bike. I am a little hesitant to put them on top of the car, but have had friends that have done it and have not scratched anything yet!

You won't scratch anything with a roof rack unless you drop a bike, there's no metal on paint contact. As for alternatives, I've scratched the h*ll out of cars with trunk mount racks.
If you're going to carry a road bike I suggest a fork mount rack, they're more stable at speed than a downtube mount rack. MTBs are less sensitive, I've had MTB bikes mounted using a Thule downtube mount up to 115 mph with no problems.

I don't know about the OEM rack, but my Thule rack clamps to the door jams. There are factory marks embossed showing acceptable locations in the jams if you look closely.

It clamps to the car between the door sill and top of roof, your car probably has arrows in each door near the roof, the clamps go between the arrows...I will try and post some pictures for this...if I can figure out how to post large pictures in a post???
