Question power difference between code3 pulley and LET 185?

hi fellas,

i have had the code3 pulley for around 6 months, now i'm searching for more power, installing ASP pulley together with the code3 seemed to be problematic (overboost issues etc) so I'm thinking to jump straight for LET 185MM. how much more power will the 185 make over code3 pulley?

Well, I'm supposed to get my 185 installed tomorrow. But then I also need to update my LET "Jerry" tune to get more fuel for the 185 as it will probably be running too lean.

Not sure if I'm gonna dyno it before the revised tune, but definitely after the tune.

Regardless, it seems as if people are really happy with it.

After talking with Jerry, the tune actually makes more power than the 185 pulley alone.
The C3P vs. 185mm is about the same as a 178mm vs. 185mm. If I can ever find a dyno shop within a 300 mile radius, I will be sure to run some numbers. My tune (LET)was matched to everything I have and set to run on 93 Oct.

We were seeing about an average of 15-20whp or more for a 181 over the Code3 pulleys at our last tune session. However, we did have a Intake/Code3/LET Tune/Res delete put down 354hp when I put down 333hp (minus res delete). It's hard to say, each engine is different but i'd ballpark a 185 with an intake and tune to be around 360whp.

All cars were SRT-6's and had aftermarket intakes

what are your mods?
what kind of dyno was this?

res delete you shouldn't see power (maybe 1whp and slight weight reduction) unless you have headers

and yes, all cars are going to be different....it would be best (or ideal) if all mods could somehow be tried out on the exact same motor in the exact same car for the best results as to actual gains with mods.

Well if you are talking straight line power well stock you should take him but with a pulley you will put a nice distance between you and him. If its at a course well the AMG suspension is not as good as the M by reviews I read so more power may be your enemy since you will spin way to much and lack of true LSD will suffer badly in a course

185 runs around 19-20psi, code3 runs around 16-17psi, and 178 runs around 17-17.5 ish I believe. 1psi usually = about 10whp. said usually since it's not exact science. so the 185 should have some 15-20 advantage at least.

Ive taken many M3s when I was stock. From low gear rolling to high gear highway rolling and off the line.

I dont think you should have a problem beating it.

I hit 18.5psi w/the ASP pulley and 21.5psi w/spray

FWIW, I datalogged 20.7 psi with the 181mm pulley while at the track. The maximum boost numbers can vary greatly - but AFAIK, the 185mm hits more like 22-23 psi boost max.

How much boost is required to trigger the overboost CEL?

you will throw a cel when you boost past 23. I do it every time at the track..

how do you get it up to 23? does the 185 get it up that high or is that something that you cry02 kit helps you achieve? would upgrading the MAP sensor help prevent from getting that code?

Thanks Jake - I recalled that it was around 22-23, but couldn't remember for certain.

its the 185 and the way the car is setup. You could upgrade the MAP sensor, but probably hitting the top end of what you want pushing through the engine as it is.

The car has so much torque that when I get a good launch on drags, it thinks it was rear ended and unlocks the doors......makes for fun with friends..

Recorded a peak of 19.1 psi with its evosport 178 ODPS - on a cool evening at the top of fourth gear.
Off-highway, of course.

No spray permissible for road course denizens. A little more boost wouldn’t hurt, would it?

Me and Donn (dkflipse) recorded 20.5psi at PBIR when it was 40degress.
He has the Renntech pulley and I have the ASP (no spray), both 178mm...

Thinking of upping the 25shot to a 50shot to see what difference it's gonna do

better make sure your tuned for the 50 shot. You will pull around 3-4 degrees of timing with that.....just an fyi...
