On the 5-speed tranny cars, the TCU is located under the passenger-side footwell carpeting. You have to fold-back the carpet, unscrew a metal plate, unscrew the TCU from the backside of that plate, and unhook the two cable connections that hold it in. So, while not difficult, it is a bit more involved than pulling the ECU from the driver's side engine bay.
Some tuners sell these tunes separate; others prefer to sell them packaged together. YMMV.

Yes, TCU tuning is independent of ECU tuning. You could run a stock ECU with a tuned TCU, a tuned ECU with a stock TCU, or both stock, or both tuned...

Earlier in the thread, MHP mentioned that the Group Buy pricing for a TCU-only C32 tune is $1,500 - I don't feel it provides enough of a benefit to warrant the expense. Consequently, unless you have money just burning a hole in your pocket, my honest opinion is that a $1,500 TCU tune is not worth it for our $17-18k cars.
