MHP ECU/TCU tuning for C32 AMG
So far, I've been extremely impressed with the tuning - and the TCU specifically makes a big difference in the "sportiness" of how the car shifts. Butt-dyno says the tuning package feels fast, but I have a dyno appt. in about a week... stay tuned for the results

Andy (from MHP) really knows his stuff, and I've been nothing but impressed when dealing with him. His dedication to proven modding and tuning strategies for these and other platforms is unparalleled IMHO.
P.S. My C32 is back on stock pullies (for now
), so the runs will essentially be comparing stock results vs. MHP tuned results. Additional modded levels (and those dyno results) will follow...
I'll keep everyone posted... thanks for reading
Besides, the point isn't a "my dad can beat-up your dad" argument on the playground
Since you mention it, I previously ran an LET ECU tune; I dyno'd last September with an LET tune, 181mm pulley kit, shorty headers, cooling mods, etc... 334rwhp/338rwtq on a Dynojet. To be honest, I wasn't doing backflips over the results... I drove the car with the hardware for awhile, and there was a slight improvement after getting back the LET-tuned ECU... but it wasn't night and day (like many others seem to experience). Thread is here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...o-results.html
You may recall - LET first used Evotech for their tuning, prior to bringing it "in-house." IIRC, LET has been doing ECU tuning for *about* 1 year, maybe less. While I don't dispute there's a loyal following of LET customers... that constitutes a long time?
My dyno runs next week will be on stock pulleys (i.e. stock boost) so I don't expect miracles; but am interested to see how it stacks up vs. my previous stock baseline of 297rwhp/289rwtq. I wanted to try something different, plus the benefit of having the TCU tuned to compliment the ECU revisions - which (again) to my knowledge only MHP is offering
Nevertheless, I've been very happy so far, and look forward to the springtime when I can drive it more.
EDIT: those previous dyno results were ALL reported as uncorrected numbers, as that was what LET requested I obtain/report at that time. Since I always go to the same dyno, I should be able to get all of my numbers (past and present) corrected to SAE. Will be interesting to see how that alters any of the figures. Stay "tuned"

Yep, LOL, that's us, Holiday Inn.
How many records do you hold?
What's the matter does the fact that you can only do older cars, can't do TCU, and are toast after 2010 not sit well with you? ...and whatever happened to your "remote custom tuning"?
Love the "reseller" comment. I own the company, Dave is my lead tuner. You think the owners of Renntech, Kleeman, Evosport, Brabus, etc etc etc do their own tuning? I fabricate parts and build engines, ever done any of that? Don't worry, that's rhetorical.
ps--stay out of this thread. I don't post in yours no matter how much I want to.

GP Pricing:
$2500 for CDT (ECU and TCU) if we get 5 customers. If we get 10 the price drops to $2200 for CDT.
ECU alone $1100
TCU alone $1500
Thanks!

I used to run LET's ECU tune - I decided to try something different, so I'm now running MHP's ECU & TCU tuning. I've dyno'd stock, w/ LET mods, and soon with the MHP tuning, and look forward to sharing the results.
c32used - IIRC, hooleyboy posted up a "rumor" that he heard MHP's tuning/software expert disappeared while in possession of some ECUs and/or TCUs. Where he heard it, who knows, but it was posted in a MHP thread on the C63 forum, while Andy was serving a 2-week suspension for participation in the heated on-going debate that is the jangy vs. jrcart saga. Once Andy came back, he cleared up that those comments were completely false; perhaps you missed that post.
If you've "heard" of other examples, you know more than I do... feel free to PM if you want, but let's keep it out of this thread Anyway, I had no intention of discussing LET in this thread until hooleyboy brought it up, since it's
- suffice it to say that I'm happy w/ the tuning company and tuner MHP, and excited for what 2009 may bring in the form of dyno & track results.
The TCU won't show up as much on the dyno as it will at the track, or even when daily driving. It really changes the overall feel of the powertrain at both part and WOT.
Also, what exactly does your TCU tuning do?......alter shift points (different rpm's)?....or does it really increase the shift speeds (ie lower shift times)? The "M" (manual) mode of the C55 tranny really could use some faster shift speeds.
