it be a pain the *** to add it later, rear shelf, mechanism, wiring loom, and the button.
shouldnt be a deal breaker it was only a $600 option at the dealer

I had one on my c230 sedan and really didnt miss it when i got my c32.

.
not a deal breaker...as it is hardley used, but I think the 06 had the cd changer and window shade tied together as a package, for the US at least.

I use my rear sun shade all the time here in AZ. If someone is on my tail I like to have them see me lower it. Most of the time they get the point to back up.

when you feel the power of the C55 you wont worry about the sun shade. You could get your windows tinted.

... are always a good time.
I love the rear shade. Especially for the kids in the back seat on sunny days. They love it too.

I use the rear shade quite a bit. It is well worth the price of admission IMHO.

I use my rea shade whenever its sunny and I park the car. EVen with the tint it helps a bit more. Anything to keep the interior stay nice ill take.

But yeah, it should be a deal breaker. Buy the one that overall is in better shape if they are identical

Unlike the TV show, it's not always sunny in Philadelphia.

I've never used it before, but if you're in a warm clime--like the AZ and CA guys have already mentioned--I'd pony up for the sunshade.

Even living in California, I never used the sun shade on any of my last three S-classes. I asked my wife if she uses it in her C55, and she said she forgot she had one.

If it's a sign that one car has the CD changer and the other doesn't, that would be way more important to me.

If I remember correctly the rear sunshade comes as part of the premium package which adds rain sensitive windshield wipers, power rear sunshade, blue tinted glass, and a 6-disc CD changer.

So the one with the rear shade has the premium package and the one without doesn't.

Not necessarily
Moosejaws C32
rain sensitive windshield wipers; Yes
blue tinted glass; Yes
6-disc CD changer; Yes

power rear sunshade;Nope

My point being that dont overlook that c32 bc it doesn't necessarily mean that one without the rear sunshade doesnt have these other items.

Actually it's a 2006 C55, not a C32, and the options were packaged differently. You won't find a US C55 with rain-sensitive wipers and no sunshade, for instance.

There were two packages available:
319 Lighting package (Bi-xenons and headlight cleaners) $790
326 Premium package (CD changer, rain-sensing windshied washers and rear sun screen) $925

The CD changer was available separately
819 CD-changer $420

Also available:
530 COMAND $2,210
536 Sirius $500
050 Phone pre-wiring $765

I'd consider the bi-xenons and COMAND as must-haves and the CD-changer as very desirable.

hmmm...I have an 06 C55-head light cleaners, Bi's, 6 disc, Nav....no rear sun shade.
Kinda glad I dont-I agree on the tint if you need it-and I figure its something that will eventually break either stuck closed, or open-if I'm really lucky-half way in the middle.
Take the White one. White is the faster color.

That's the lighting package and ala carte CD changer. But no sun shade means no rain-sensing winshield washers. Option packaging at its best.

i'm a fan of the rain sensing wipers... though lately i feel like my wipers will lag or i have to click them once to get them to "realize" i have some water on the windshield... thoughts?

I have the same rain sensor wipers on my Clk55 and I know what you mean. I think its a dumb feature.

I didn't want to hijack the thread but I think I have the dumbest rain sensing wipers on my c55. It'll wipe really slow in torrential downpour and then speed up once it stops raining.

is that a mechanical/computer thing they can fix? or is it not worth it?

i got a solution... turning the auto-rain sensing off and using Rain-X
