Time for new street tires - Recommendations?

Currently I have Michelin Pilot Sport SP2's... and have been wondering if I should change or just continue with the SP2's.

I am looking for extreme traction in the dry, not so much worried for rain as it is normally in the garage on heavy rain. Target range is around 10k-15k miles max. Currently the SP2 offer great traction, i mean heck, i was able to get a low 1.9 flat on drags with them..

Anyone have any tire recommendations that just blew your socks off? Nitto? PZero's?

Looking to spend around 1200.00 - 265/30ZR/19 and 245/35ZR/19 are my staggered set.

I DON'T COME HERE ANYMORE
Dunlop Star specs (200 treadwear) or check out the new Nitto NT-05-I've heard great great things about the star spec-so much so they are hard to find around me right now!

i have the T1Rs but ppl who have had them and the nittos tend to prefer the nittos - T1R is a great value buy and great feel/grip for a daily driver.

Always been very pleased with the Goodyear Eagle F1's. Had a set on my Saab, now a set on the C32, and when these wear out I'll probably get them again.

Do the Toyo's have the same level of traction as the Pilots though?

I have been reading about those Toyo's... they seem to be a favorite of the Z06 drivers... and several mention that on track days they are stellar. Interesting ... might have to give those a whirl.

Tires

I had Pirelli Pzeros on my C32 and hated them. Traction was OK but their stabiliy is cornering was horrible.

I replaced them with Bridgestone Re050-PP and was blown away by the improvement of the overall feel of the car in the corners. Straight line traction was about the same but precision and confident feel went up dramatically. I am very pleased with them. Cannot say how long they will last. They are not cheap but neither are Michelin Pilots or Pirellis. For budget option the Fusion ZRi is nearly as good as the Bridgestone in the dry and better in the wet for half the $.

Not to worried about budget tire, kinda pointless to have 400+ rwhp if i cant put it to the ground

For my daily driver yes, all about the budget tires (2007 Toyota Camary SE)

Assuming a proper size/fitment exists for your size, I'd look at:

Bridgestone RE11
Nitto NT05
Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec

or, if you want to go all out, the Sport Cup's like you mentioned, or R888's, or NT01's.

Running the Toyo T1Rs on my 55. I cant compare them to any other tire other than the crappy stock Contis but i can say they are awesome. Nice and quiet for a DD and when I want to drive hard they have plenty of grip for a non drag radial.

Plus I think they look really good, beefy looking tread

I will be able to tell you the difference between the T1R and a NT-05 tomorrow. I expect it to be night an day. I am actually disappointed in my T1R's. I liked the T1S better. The T1R's have soft sidewalls and they chunk and overheat badly at the track. Plus they score very low (near the bottom) in all the magazine tests. They might be a good street tire for drag racing but not the corners.

its hard to choose what tires to get in a car thats traction challenged like yours. Its a bit easier for me since it hardly rains here. I would hit up tire rack or discount tires sites and start reading reviews. I would look for a good contact patch with a good amount of ventilation for rain. Kind of a hard combo to find.

My brother, (who maybe joining this forum soon with a CLS55) Had Toyo T1R's 19 inch and he said the road noise was loud. They dont last long at he He went though a few sets of T1R's on his old G35 coupe.

I have Nitto 555s and with the added power they might as well be banana peals. As much as I hate ContiSports I hooked the best with them at the strip. (other than slicks)

I think Michelin is kinda where its at, but i would do some review reading.

In money order my list:

1. Goodyear GSD3's best all around tire PERIOD!
2. Bridgstone 050 PP's, BEST dry tire, gives up a little in the rain to above
3. Yok's ES1000, Nitto 555, both are a good tire, both give up a little dry to the above
4. Kuhmo's GREAT CHEAP tire, not as sticky as the above, but WAY cheaper. Note: Kuhmo's tend to need balacning OFTEN, IMHO.

That's it guys. All of the above ratings were from running at Nelson Ledges or Beavrun lap timing.

See yeah

PS: As I have siad a thousand times on this forum, "Friends don't let friends buy Michelin's" WAY OVER PRICED
