Intercooler replacement

What are all the parts that you need to do a proper intercooler replacement?

Anyone in San Antonio, Houston or Austin who can replace it for me?

Have you contacted Sunil? Don't know if Houston Motorwerks is still in business. I haven't been down in Houston since last summer.

I would think all you would need is a new intercooler and some MB black silicone. It the whole throttle body and pipeline have to come off then so gaskets too.

Hold up man - it's actually not that difficult a procedure:

Here are some of the parts that you may want to think about when you do your ordering:

In regards to the gaskets, some of the above that may be of importance are depicted with the red arrows:
  • 250: Part#: 1121411280 (Gasket to the intake fitting on the supercharger)
  • 450: Part#: 1121411180 (Gasket to the intercooler)
  • 600: Part#: 1121411380 (Gasket from the throttle body to the intake manifold)
  • 630: Part#: 3059970345 (This is a seal ring for the throttle body - may or may not need)

Here is the general gist of how to remove and install the intercooler: note that the protocol (STAR Service library) doesn't appear to mention the sealant to use with the gasket between the IC and the intercooler. I'm not sure what that sealant is called.

kindafast - I don't recommend you do this yourself.

You need to be extremely familiar with the car, you need certain tools, extra miscellaneous hardware and even help from a friend to tackle this job.

This is Medium-High level skill job.

I've done it before. But my dad doesn't want me to DIY anything to the car anymore ( I am about to put on the Xenon headlights on lol).

But yeah it was tough, it took me a total of 3 days to figure out how to take certain parts off.
What bohoo posted is a very simplified version of the disassembly. For someone who doesn't know much about cars it's still do-able.

The dealer ordered it today, I can't wait for them to fix...

Kindafast just curious how much something like this would cost? I think I'm starting to have the same problem but I want to have an idea.

I was a bit caught off guard by the “it's actually not that difficult a procedure” post. They’re generally the first ones that succumb to a dealership.

In this circumstance I would purchase the parts and book an appt with a reputable shop for install. Best of luck whichever route you choose!

Intercooler replacement.

Maybe I should rephrase. I'm 19 years old and can not afford to take my vehicle to the stealership. I'm going to accomplish this task on my own time.
Now. Has anyone replaced their c32 intercooler start to finish? If so, I would like an idea of how long it's going to take.
