I have to revive this thread b/c 1) it's entertaining but to be serious 2) I didn't really get any useful information on the teflon coated valve covers from this thread! Did anyone actually ever figure out what their purpose is??

Also, I realize they talk about the "oil shedding" thing on the website, but that's about it. It doesn't really go into much detail about what does this really do to help the car?

Not getting deep into the benefits of shedding coating of the moving internal engine parts (reducing parasitic drag), coating the valve covers with Teflon not only prevents hot oil from clinging to the surfaces (which helps reduce radiated heat) but also permits excess oil from sticking to the surfaces and promotes much faster drainage of oil to the pump, where it’s pumped back to the parts that need oil. Additionally, Teflon serves as a thermal barriers and would inhibit the covers from cooling the oil. If you are into drag racing, this may be a good thing since while you are waiting, it is not uncommon for the oil to be below the ideal temperature. If you are not into drag racing, this may not be a good thing. How much Teflon inhibits the oil from cooling is what I don't know but I don't think it is much. At least not on the M112K and M113K engines since together with the supercharges they generate a lot of heat anyway.

I miss Cruzin. He knew what he was talking about ... even though he came across a bit acidic at times. I'd powder coat or polish the valve covers myself and leave the insides stock. The manifolds are worth 16 hp throughout the power band untuned to take advantage of them. If the loto works out for me I'll get the Needswings reworked heads. Rob's parts work.
