One less C55 on the roads..

As some of you know i bought an 05 C55 about a month ago. Black on black, 30K miles(driven by a local doctor), looked like nobody had ever sat in the back seat, just all together beautiful shape.

Well i was driving down the road a few weeks ago (Sorry haven't had alot of time to post), and out of nowhere this Tundra comes from the other side of the road and tries to cut in front of me to get onto a side street i was passing. Well needless to say he didn't have a chance, and i t-boned him right at the passenger door. The motor was completley trashed, which obviously totaled the car. Im not a happy camper, but his insurance is paying for everything and cooperating very very well so i guess it could be worse. Well.. Check these out

Tax and everything included they originally came in at $27,500. Wasn't too happy with that so i pestered them a little and raised a little hell and got them up to $29,500, which i was very pleased with.

Glad to hear you are okay (you driving?)-also glad to hear that its a good/better experiance with the ins co's (maybe post who you're dealing with on your side and thiers?-we always like to hear the good things in the world!)
Sorry to hear about the car-it was a rare find, and a great combo-I call dibs on the interior!

As painful as that is to see, I'm glad to see that the passenger compartment looked mostly unharmed. MB engineering ftw

Sorry to hear that.

With that kind of money in the pocket, I would pick a 05 E55 next and may have couple grand left for mods...

Man that sucks... Glad you are OK. Well this is good to know how these C55s hold up in the real world. I have one myself with only 26k miles on it...

If I were writing an estimate on the car, I'd say: Total Loss, NOW, what its worth is a matter of State insurance regulations and what they require the insurer to do to calculate a value. Depending on mileage, condition , equipment etc. It has to be in the $22,000- 26,000 plus range for a C55 (not market value, but insured value). The mileage is low ( 30 K miles) and the car looked to be in great shape. Make sure they account for "each and every option you had. " Also, tires condition (new) etc etc. Do you have receipts for recent repairs or options/add-ons? You're basically entitled to be put into the same position as "immediately before the crash. " Note that none of this includes a possible BI claim.

Just eyeballing the damage, the parts alone for that wreck (no labor, paint time, prep etc) would be over $10 K.

wow, that really sucks. Glad to hear you're okay. that's most important. i agree with what the other dude said about using the $29,500 toward an 04 or 05 e55 with low mileage. I've even seen some nice 03+ Cl and S 600's twin turbo v12's for around that price on Ebay and Auto Trader. Good luck.

Travelers Insurance Co. As it was his fault that is his agency and they have been really good so far. I trashed all the ligaments in my ankle (brake pedal) but i can walk in a boot and take it off if i need to drive.

I found another one same year, 40k miles, and fully loaded(mine didnt have nav). Brand new tires, always garage kept, owned by an older man that is here locally. Only thing is that its silver, so i may keep looking for a black one.

Yea he was okay...Kind of a jerk though. A younger asian kid that just crawled out and lit up a cigarette (right beside his flipped over truck...) and didnt apologize or anything. Personally i think he was stoned.

Im not sure exactly what your asking but i only owned the car for about 2 weeks. They offered me 29,200 total for the car, my lost wages and other claim is seperate. The total damage estimate was 29,500.

I thought about the E, but i really like how the C55 drives and handles. Im probably either going to get another C55 and spray like a 100 shot, or get a CL55.

maybe 30-35 and i was doing about 45. Dont you think a C55 with 100 shot would be way more fun?

Thanks for all the other good wishes guys. It sucks really bad but i think it will all end up okay. Quick question also, does anyone spray these cars? I just think it would be alot of bang for the buck and i've heard these motors are bulletproof. Thanks guys!

Damn that really hurts to see pix like that... I hope you will fix the AMG C55 Benz cause this car rules

To be positive we can see how ''strong'' our Benzo is...

This is going to be completly out of subject cause this crash was not your fault but to be positive : it doesnt matter how good of a driver you are...with such a car, if you make a slight mistake when you race it gets real tough if something goes wrong (rain, specially hot chicks, etc)

To finish on a positive note our AMG C class ride looks amazing even in these conditions

You saw that it was totalled by the ins. co, right?

Fixing this Benz would be a fool's errand anyway, it would need a new front end + motor... honestly, it would likely be a $40,000+ repair (motor alone, for a new one sourced through MB, is likely $30k-ish if not more). Plus, even once you get the front end into "as new" condition - a car that's been in this bad of an accident would realistically never be the same. All of that force from the impact, sent through the body and chassis - things get torqued/bent a couple degrees here or there, it can cause handling issues, squeaks and rattles in the interior, etc etc.

To the OP - glad to hear you're okay; hope your replacement vehicle is as enjoyable as your old one. Talk to C55asleep? about running nitrous through a C55... IIRC he's one of the very few who's done it and been open about sharing his observations.

Wow. That was a nasty shunt.
Very fortunate to have suffered 'only' a tweaked ankle.

Source another ’55 and give it another go. Best wishes.

Yea i think so too. E55 speeds (if not more), while keeping the excellent handling suspension and IMO, a more fun car to drive.
If anyone has info on this PM me. Thanks!

That's awful. To the OP, I'm terribly sorry this happened, especially after getting the car recently. I'm happy to see the car held up very well, and of course, kept you safe. Good luck on getting your next car.
