If he gives you problems down low, which I doubt, you will murder him up top

Hi all

I test drove his car yesterday . Its an awesome car but it feels like it does not pull as hard as the c55. Second gear is kinda sluggish. The c55 just kicks you in backside and jumps forward were the z4m squats down and tries . Very different drive . Noticed the engine is a screamer compared to our low down bark. Unfortunately I did not drive my c55 yesterday but after driving his I know I can take him .

it's C55 vs your cousin. all depends on if he can shift or not. The clown shoe is quicker than the M3 which before triple digit is involved the clown shoe will be quicker. If your cousin can't shift then it doesn't matter what car he has unless it's some 500hp sports car.

+1 to the above

I had a 2001 M roadster, aka LIGHTER model, and it was a 13 flat car. I didn't get the Z4M because it was heavier and SLOWER

See yeah

The 2006 Z4M

A quick run through the 3303-pound M-car's gears produces a 0-to-60 time of 4.8 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 13.4 seconds at 105 mph, and a governed top speed of 160 mph.

This is from car and driver.

it's only a 110lbs different in claimed unladen weight. 3084 vs 3197 (roadster vs roadster). with 90 more HP and 33lb-ft torque more with the Z4 M. HP to weight ratio winner goes to the Z4 M. and the Torque to weight ratio advantage to the Z3M, but only about 1lb per lb-ft of torque.

I honestly don't see how the Z4M is slower. we're not talking about the Z3M with the S50B32.

yes, that's correct. my mind was thinking about the S52B32 which only had 240hp. completely forgot they switched to S54B32 at the end of the Z3 life cycle. when that's the case the 01-02 Z3M is indeed quicker than the Z4M.

So with all these numbers flying around where does the c55 fit in . Is it a fair comparison or will he blow me away? will I blow him away ? He said He went at it with a SLK55 and pulled him but I know for a fact thats impossible.

Sorry Frank:

But the 01-02 M roadsters were the E46 engine, or 333 HP version, so there IS NO HP or torque differenece my friend aka same engine. That is why I bought the 01 M roadster in the first place.

See yeah

Okay, sorry for all the fluff that has occured my friend.

Race him from a dig, as his engine is LOW on torque. The outcome, well if he is good with the clutch, dead even. If he isn't you win.

See yeah

PS: If he hasn't disabled the lovely check valve from BMW on their hydraulic clutch system, he will FRY the clucth after about 20-30 launches. I know, because I did

Darn thing NEVER lets you dump the clucth, aka old lady friendly I guess. REALLY a stupid feature on such a nice car.

as said above. I completely forgot they put the S54 in there at the end of the life cycle for Z3M.

however, there was a difference in hp and tq rating, but not enough to offset the 110lb weight difference. Z3M rated at 325/251 vs Z4M 330/269. Indeed as you said the 01-02 Z3M is quicker.
