c32 speedshift question

i noticed you can downshift the car pretty much whenever you like, however the car upshifts pretty much whenever it feels like it. is there any way to control upshifts (short shift)?

What year is your C32? From what I recall, 2002 tiptronic was programmed differently than the later years.

its an 02. does that mean other c32's have full control over downshifts AND upshifts?

In the 2002 model, you can only narrow the number of gears available and the shift points are recalculated on the fly, depending on the setting. In other words, when you put it to 3, you are not shifting into 3rd. You are only making 3 gears available to the computer and that in turn changes the shift points. Under extreme conditions, the computer will override your settings.

Yea I was aware of this. Is there any way to modify this so that I could have full control? Like maybe swapping ECUs?

Hey guys, sorry to bring back an old thread. But I have a question about speedshift. Regarding what this poster says, is this true? I thought the tranny was like this for all C32's? On the '03 + models you can actually shift into different gears from a stop? I know that we cannot lock the gears and the TCU will automatically shift at redline, however, in '03+ models you can actually select gears individually?

Also, are there aftermarket TCU programs that can lock the gears? (eg, not shifting at redline like the C55)? I've checked the dealership for TCU updates and there are none. Can I specifically request '03+ TCU software from the dealership?

thanks,

Bryan

the "m-shift-mode" from "german32er" is awesome.

You can hold the gear as long as you want, the engine goes into the rev limiter. And you can upshift everytime, the only condition you have, is a "minimum rev", to upshift.
And if you going under this minimum rev, the car shifts down from itself.

Its like the C55 in M Mode, its a TCU upgrade BUT the unit has to be sent (TCU) to have it done.
