Just picked up the C32...one concern

Just got back from picking up the c32. I am amazed by this vehicle in many respects. A very worthy replacement to the S60R I sold, actually like the AMG better. This is a 2002 with 50K on it and it is in what I would call amazing condition overall.

There is only one area of concern I noticed while on the highway. The supercharger is consistantly disengaging and reengaging. I believe the seller who stated he was not aware since he only drove it around town, it just had the MB A service and went through fine, and it has no codes.

I did many searches and it looks like the intercooler pump could be the culprit.
I was wondering is there is any additional way to diagnose. or if I should just bring it to my local MB stealership

The good news is that the seller stated he would pay for whatever was needed to rectify.

other than that, car looks and drives perfect so I am very pleased with this purchase.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
If he is paying, take it to the dealer.

And C32 >>>>>>> than Volvo S60r. no comparison.

There was absolutely comparison, considering this was a 2006 R modded with 340HP 325 TQ all wheel drive. Plus had many more ammenities and a far more comfortable interior. But is was harsh to drive overall.

The AMG is better build quality and has great features for a 7 yr old car. Also has awesome power and is much more user friendly to drive.

Those seats in the r look nice esp in the terracotta leather
I always like the v70R thought

Is the AMG more comfortable than the s60R?

Im not sure about the c32. But I dont think it can engage and disengage. Are you sure you don't have an AC compresor going bad. Could be turning really hard and when it engages it would feel like a loss of power??? Try turning your climate control completely off and see what happens.

common problem with the 3.2 s/c motor. its the intercooler pump. bosch pumps only last about 30 to 40 k. use the lightning pump from ford or a johnson cm30 as a replacement. time to do it is around 1 hr. lightning pump 100$ or cm30 149$

on either pump you will need to reuse the plug from the old pump. on the cm30 a hole will need to be drilled in the factory location to add a screw for mounting the cm30 bracket. if the m/b dealer replaces the pump a bosch will be used and most likely fail in 30 to 40 k

It's the IC pump, use it as an excuse to get a pulley, tune, IC pump and heat exchanger upgrade. How would you compare driveability between the S60 and the C32?

its definitely the I/C pump. easy/cheap fix.

as far as the S60R, i am a huge fan. i almost picked one up instead of the c32 years ago. they arent nearly as quick (even when stock) but they are really nice and comfortable. love the seats and the sound system.

What do you mean by this? If you mean it lacks power sometimes then I agree it is an IC pump. If you mean you can feel a jerk like something is cycling on/off then no it is not the IC pump.

yes the car goes from normal power, to then suddenly no power, it feels just like a slug, it will rev and shift normal but feels like a 4 cylinder car.

I did alot of research lasat night and it seems this comes up time and time again and almost every resourse pointed to the IC pump. Just got the quote from the dealer as well $ 800.00

this is a 2 on a scale of 10 in regards to repairs. very simple. hand tools only some solder and antifreeze and a little time you can do this yourself for under 200$ bleeding is no issue and its a good time to drain all the antifreeze and replace it while you are doing the mod

It would also make great sense to upgrade to a Johnson CM30 and call it a day, the darn Bosch that the MB uses which is oem most likely will give the same issues 40-50k down the road again. Do it right and do it once the first time around.

www.eurocharged.com or www.letmotorsports.com is the site to go to, Johnson CM30 IC Pump, Pulley, Tune, Heat Exchanger, everything for the C32 is there. BTW, if I may ask, how much did you pick up your C32 for?

It's a 1 - 2 hour job max.
The CM30 has a smaller diameter than the OEM and may have to reconfigure
the way the CM30 mounts to the bracket. I ended up just using one bolt (completely tightened with a lockwasher) and tie wrapped for added insurance.
