Thumbs up C55 vs. C32 (pics included)

So as few of you may know, my Dad has a C55 AMG and I have a C32 AMG. He has owned his new since '05 and I picked mine up a little over a year ago.

Throughout the time we've had both cars we have yet to compare them head to head, and yesterday was the first test.

We went to the Drags...I was disappointed with our times with me having the best time of the day with a 14.11 @ 102. I beat him 2 out of the 3 times but I had the faster time all three times. It was extremely hot out and both cars seemed slower than usual, but it was still fun.

anyways here are just a few pics from the day....

Dad's Car:
2005 C55 AMG
Everything but parktronic
CLK 63 Brake upgrade
Clear Sidemarkers
Polished Diff Cooler
20% tint

Nice pics. But yeah the temps are a big factor.

Regardless - supercool to have a dad to do that with.

Predisposed to get a ‘55 next time ‘round owing to its more pleasant interior trim and CLK front tin.
Oh, and the smoothness and rumble from their V8 makes even a faster C32 still seem farty.

Very cool to have had a go against your father. Hard to make much power in Fontana during the summer months.
Even Newport Beach was almost unpleasant yesterday.

Where were you running? Fontana? Had to be 105+ out there yesterday. Don't get to down on your times. SC's sure like cool condensed air a lot more that thin hot air!

Oh the old stories! It's amazing how fast "dad's" cars were when he tells you about them ain't it? You would have though they would catch flight they were so fast back them! Cool to see your dad still getting into it.

14.11? Ouch, that's no good. Also keep in mind that Fontana's drag strip is terrible. Everyone runs something around .5 seconds slower than they should because of the tarmac they use.

Don't feel too bad. The best I mustered was a 13.8 when I was stock on my first attempt of runs in Fontana. It was about 80 degrees.

To the OP - It's cool to see you doing stuff like that with your Dad. Not many Dad's would hit the track! (I drag mile out to old Pontiac shows once in a while though)

Pop is pretty honest about the "old days". He'll tell you cars now are superior in every way to what he drove 40 years ago.

Great seeing you guys at the track. I have one of your runs on vid.

I was filming you guys thinking it was the black E55 vs The silver CLS 63, LOL , boy was I shocked when I saw 14, then realized it was C32 V C55. I ran 12.92-13.08 in a 530 hp CLS so your times are certainly not anything to be concerned with.

Cherish those times, get back out there with us on a cooler fall or winter day and we will do much better.

Incredible pics,

thanks for sharing

Oh I would love to see that video! It was an overall fun day, your guys' cars were all awesome! It was great to see some more AMG's out there amongst all the other imports and so on. You guys had quite the set up with the tent and trailer and all. Next time I'm bringing ice and a canopy for sure !

Yeah I have to agree. It may not be the best track, but in my opinion for 20$ its worth it for a good, safe, legal and fun time
