They (MB) only brought over 3 of them-last I heard 1 is in a car muse-the other was wrecked-this must be the last of a great breed-I hear they are bringing back a C65 BS to commemorate (spl?) the 8th aniversary.
good find! Any more pics?

You can buy an AMG badge on Ebay and put it on a non AMG car. Doesnt AMG always use 2 numbers instead of 3?
Either way if you want the magical fourth clk430 AMG it happens to be for sale on Ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...fCarsQ5fTrucks

CLK 430's came like that from the dealer. Whether the facotry put it on or the dealer IDK> However every single CLK430 I have seen in SOFLA says AMG.
My freind bought one brand new years ago and it also said this. I didnt think anything of it. In fact I assumed since it had the body kit it was entitled to the moniker.
My main method of transportation back then in post 911 was a bus pass so i knew nothing about AMG posers.
Edit I found a nine page summary of why some refer to it as a CLK430. I cant link to it bc its on a competing forum. But google it and it will pop up. Nine pages on wheter a CLK430 is an AMG or not. I dont have time to read it, I gotta take this hot chick for drinks

just how many time will I have to mention that AMG is doesn't just make/sell the 32/55/63/65's. They also sell off AMG parts to individuals as a TUNER brand. Like Brabus/Carlsson/Lorinser. If you have enough parts, feel free to stick a badge on it.
and how is the car above "posing" when he didn't even take off the "430" badge.
and just so you know MB USA is the only Mercedes-Benz world wide that sold the CLK430/500/550 with standard AMG bodykit which is part of a package world wide called "AMG Evolution" or "AMG appearance" package. Just to cater to the American's narrow mind.

Yes, I have also seen many a previous gen CLK430 with the AMG appearance package and subsequent logo. They're actually somewhat common....

Yes Frank we went through this before, I feel the same way. Thats why I took my AMG off my car. There are people who know what my car is and the rest I don't care. Including the poor M3 the other day

uh....the C32 is a AMG with a Kompressor. Definitely says Kompressor on the side and AMG on the back. i'm guessing your referring to perhaps another C-class, say, the C230K with AMG and Kompressor both on the trunk?

If the dealer actually did this. The are risking their franchise. MB/AMG is getting finiky about this because the economy is weak and they are trying hard to keep the value of the brand high. That's why the went to all the trouble of the "AMG Performance Centers".

You know what at the end of the day if putting an AMG badge is getting you a peice of P*ssy, I'd be putting AMG all over my 4matic.
And then i would never show my face here again

It had AMG on the left side of the trunk and Kompressor on the right. It was a W202 C class. No AMG body kit, I dont think it had AMG wheel either
The other thing about them getting picky about ther AMG parts. When we went to order the new CLK63 bumper cover, they asked for a vin number to release it in Germany.

Speaking of which I got that email on the "performance centers" what a load of BS. I got excited thinking it was like the performance salon. it is just marketing for regular parts.... lame!

No engine - no badge. That's how it should be. Same for ///M and all the rest.
I pulled up next to an obvious C320 hack (dropped the 0, slapped an AMG badge on crooked, had some ugly 17" aftermarket rims, didn't even put the Kompressor badges on his fenders) and as soon as I revved on him, he just locked his head forward and completely stopped looking around. Seems like if you know what a C32 is, that you might as well get the details right... He even tried to outrun me, to get away from my cackling; he failed

I dont give a **** if you have every AMG asthetic option added onto your base Mercedes, its not a ****ing AMG. Unless it came from Affalterbach take those goddamn badges off.

This guys not a poser. Its not his fault the dealer sold them that way
Would you argue with the dealer if they slapped a AMG badge on your CLK 430 esp if no CLK 55 was available that year.
What you are all forgetting is the car in the subject line is almost a decade old.
For once and only once I agree with FrankW

i couldnt agree more. If there are a large amount of "posers" running around with AMG badges they bring the whole brand down.

calling everyone and anyone with a AMG badge a poser is getting ridiculous and shows there are so many stuck up people.
if it's someone that doesn't have a AMG kit that slap on the AMG badge then yea, I would call it a poser OR someone who rebadge their cars to a 32/55/65, the 6.3 badge, and whatever when they clearly have non-AMG then I would call it posing.
this issue rarely comes up anywhere other than in US. it's all about mentality.

Good points on the "tuner" observation. I realize there is no need to get all worked up each time I see a AMG badge on a normal Mercedes, everyone knows that on a track or street the AMG will show its true form.
I just hate to see the trend even happening; but at the end of the day there are similar trends in each market. Comming from owning a Ford truck people would love to badge their base 2wd trucks FX4(Ford's top of the line, loaded, 4x4 truck) which I always found frustrating. This will just have to be the new automotive pet peeve for me
