Likewise, bought a crafsman toolbox for $50 when I was 16 and been at it ever since.

My son is 17 now. He is spilling half the oil with me......lol!

We rebuilt his first car two years ago, bumper to bumper including all bushings and mounts with hard race stuff, a 99 Impreza OBS. With Delta cams, think it has about 165 hp from 2.2L 4 cylinder engine. After I got my C63 AMG, he naturally felt underpowered.

So he came to me and said, let's turbocharge the Impreza. I said, start thinking of another project car. I don't want to aftermarket turbo a normally aspiriated car in the state of California and have to deal with the smog board.

The C32 AMG is what he found 3 days after I sent him on a mission to find a new project car that was already turbocharged. He did manage to find one of the best project cars out there, the C32 AMG, an 03 with 43K miles. We jumped on it.

Cool. Quality garage time with your son bespeaks a good father.
Didn’t fall too far from the tree huh? :)

Was making sawdust near Eshelman in the Pines today. You local?

Painting the calipers is a great idea. The timing is all wrong. Have too many irons in the fire. Besides, the rust on the calipers just makes the rotor and Redstuff pads look that much more attractive..........

Do you have a color in mind?

Took a little time out today to pick up the new C63 AMG airboxes, but managed to get the left rear brake assembly rebuilt on the C32. The rotor was rusted right on the axle hub. Switched to bigger hammer. That did the trick. Funny, no brake wear sensors on the left side..... Next, the fronts.......now here's a neat video to warm your souls:

Buck Buck Number Three

Right front brake assembly was completed today. Barnaby, the parts washer, was on duty and active, keeping things cool. The UPS guy delivered the ECU, pulley, heat exchange, and pump.

We finished the brake bleeding this evening. That blue fluid was really cool and the speed bleeders made it a snap. All four corners are now done. Forgot about the paint for the rear calipers one more time.....

Next up, front bumper pull, heat exchanger R&R.

MB Killer Bumper

Removed the bumper cover this evening. Very impressive front bumper beam.

Ready now for the heat exchanger and pump swapout......
